iPad Vending Machines?!
Would you buy an iPad from a vending machine? Never thought about it? Me neither, but pushing aside the old iPod vending machines that have been around a while comes an all new iProduct vending machine, this time including iPad 2. Of course there are also iPod touches, shuffles, AppleCare, and assorted other tech products, but the iPad is what makes this notable.
This was noticed by the Consumerist at a Macy’s mens department, I wonder if these will catch on?

Yeah, we have one of those in our Macy’s at South Shore Plaza in Braintree, MA. We also have a full Apple Store about five stores away. haha

I’ve seen these in various international airports, and have watched as travelers buy products from them. The items do not drop like in a regular vending machine. A small tray in front is raised to the item, which is then pushed out onto the tray, the tray lowers, and then a belt delivers it to the exit on the side.
Harrah’s Hotel & casino in Atlantic City has one just like it.
I’m curious what happens when one gets stuck. Does that mean that the next person get’s two?
LOL ya! And really who wants their iPad to drop four feet before they buy it??? LOL worst idea ever Macys’!!
I was just thinking the same thing, what happens if the drop is so high that my iPad screen would be mashed, or even worst, some other hardware would be broken inside.
It doesn’t drop. The door opens and you take it out. There are cameras and the machine only releases that one device.
Obviously it doesn’t drop down like a normal vending machine….
Dammit! I’m all out of quarters!!!
