Mac Setups: The Desk of a Visual Designer
This weeks awesome Mac setup comes to us from visual designer and Apple lover Mirko S. With a great looking desk and a very nice Macintosh configuration, here is the Apple gear and a few app recommendations that Mirko is using for his work, and why:
What Apple hardware does your setup consist of?
Core Apple hardware includes the following:
- MacBook Pro Retina Core i7 – with Mac OS X Mavericks
- Apple Thunderbolt Display 27”
- Apple Wireless Keybord
- Apple Magic Trackpad
- iPhone 5
What other gadgets and tech hardware do you use?
The rest isn’t specifically Apple hardware, but directly related to my design work:
- Wacom Intuos 5
- Moleskine Classic Notebook
- Behance Dot Grid Book
- Rotring 800 0.35 Mechanical Pencil
- Twelve South Book Arc
- Rain Stand for Macbook
Why Apple? What do you use your Apple gear for?
During my work I discovered that Apple gave me the best solution possible to design apps, and website and standard graphics. My Apple hardware have become the vital elements to my design workflow.
Any app recommendations? What apps could you not do without?
There are a tons of incredible Mac-only apps created to suit every designer’s needs. Two of my personal favorites include Sketch (by Bohemian Coding), which is very useful to design UI (User Interface) and icons, and Ember (by Realmac Software), which I use to store my inspiration shots collection.

Very Nice desktop

Visual Designer = Non-Existant Job Title In The Design World
I’m sorry crateish, but the title exist. See Job opportunities at apple.com or in the Dribbble Jobs sections and you can discover more about it’s meaning. ;)

A ‘Visual Designer’ is a unicorn made up by corporate HR to define a one catch all position to cover the skills of three or more types of designers to save tens of thousands of salary dollars.
It’s BS. I’ve never worked with or hired a ‘visual designer.’
Rain stand is the best stand ever!
It looks really great. I love that red LED stripe from the back of table. I did the same two days ago, just with white LEDs. It makes great ambient effect.
Beautiful setup, love it
