iTunes 11.4 Released with Support for iOS 8 Syncing

Sep 9, 2014 - 4 Comments

iTunes Apple has released iTunes 11.4 for OS X, the new version is required for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to sync and function properly after updating those devices to iOS 8, making it a highly recommended download for all Mac users.

Mac users can find the iTunes 11.4 update available through the Software Update mechanism of OS X, and all iTunes users can also find the update available through the iTunes application itself.

The release notes bundled with the installer are very brief and aside from mentioning the addition of iOS 8 syncing support, it’s unclear if there are any other new features or improvements brought to iTunes 11.4.

Updating to the newest version of iTunes should be considered a necessary part of preparing for iOS 8. While users can still update to iOS 8 using the OTA mechanism on their iPhone and iPad hardware, the new version of iTunes will be required to sync the devices with their computers for local backup and computer-based management purposes.

Apple has announced that iOS 8 will be released to the public on September 17, but developers registered with the iOS developer program will find the iOS 8 GM build is already available as a download through Apple servers.

We need LOCAL SYNC for Caalendar, Tasks/Remiinders, Contacts AND also NOTES! I have replaced my iPhone 5 with a Huawei from China and my MacbookPro for a Linux one AFTER the unthinking Apple folks took away local sync. Apple cost 55% MORE here in South Africa. Only 16% of the African continent’s 1.1036 billion people have BASIC Internet, very expensive and only in specific places but we WORK in the bush, in the desert and in the forests for months on end. Where is your iCloud? Then, back in the city, your iCloud corrupted calendar, contacts and notes! What were you thinking?? Did your staff even go to school? Their ideas speak of acute IGNORANCE!!

Go visit sites such as http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm. Even though outdated, it shows that 2/3 of the world has NO CLOUD. But we DO use computers!

Taking away local sync had made Apple IRRELEVANT and Apple made us lose money by firstly let us pay too much, then we sold at a loss and had to buy alternative systems.

Teach your staff top READ and get GENERAL KNOWLDGE.

There is a HUGE world outside of Cupertino!!!

Local sync is available in new versions of iTunes, that is why you should update. You do not need iCloud to sync iPhone with new versions of iTunes.

These notices of updates would be much more useful if they included the size of the update. Some of us must manage bandwidth.
