Get Details of Movie Showtimes from Siri and iPhone

Siri Wondering what time a movie starts? Or maybe you want to see a movie tonight and you aren’t sure which one? Maybe you just want to see any movie at a specific time? As long as you have your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch handy, you can get all sorts of movie showtime details by simply asking Siri.

For a broad query into what movies are playing nearby and when the showtimes start, summon Siri as usual (with the Home button or “Hey Siri”, and then just ask the following type of questions:

  • “What movies are playing?” – this will show a list of movies that you can scroll through, including the soonest showtime

You can also get more specific and ask about a specific movie:

  • “What time is [movie name] playing?” – this will show you all showtimes nearby for the requested movie

And of course, you can also specify a location for movies to search as well, perhaps because you prefer one cinema location over another:

  • “What time is [movie name] playing in [location]?” – this will cause Siri to report the showtimes for a specific movie at a specific location, if multiple theaters are at the location, they will be shown

Finally, if you just want to see a movie at a specific time, but don’t really care what it is, you can also ask vague questions about showtimes like so:

  • “What movies are playing at around [time]?” – this will show all movies starting near the specified time

There are many other movie related tricks that Siri can perform too, even showing you movie trailers if you want to get an idea of what a movie is about.

You’ll find this, and many other commands possible through Siri’s command list, explore through them and you’ll certainly find many that are helpful, if not outright silly.

    I’m in the small town of Atascadero. When I ask Siri what movies are playing, it replies, “Here are six movies playing today at Galaxy Atascadero; they’re a bit far from Atascadero: …” What makes Siri say that a theater in the middle of town is “a bit far” from that town?

    Those of us that grew up in the 70’s remember HAL. We have reservations about talking assistants.

      2001 is a great movie, but wow they sure were optimistic and forward thinking back then to imagine that in the year 2001 we’d be traveling anywhere meaningful into space! Reminds me of Bladerunner and Back to the Future, both thought we’d have flying cars by now, LOL.
