iOS 9.3

Apple has released the 7th beta version of iOS 9.3 to users in the public beta and developer beta testing programs.

The new beta release presumably includes bug fixes and feature enhancements and can be downloaded now from the over-the-air update mechanism available in Settings > General > Software Update.

iOS 9.3 will include password protected notes, a night-time adjustment to screen color, and a few other features to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Any user can opt-in to participate in the beta testing program to run the public beta versions of iOS 9.3 on their iPhone or iPad, but considering the final version will be released in the near future there is little reason to bother at this point in time.

The final version of iOS 9.3 is expected to launch to the general public next week at the Apple event scheduled for March 21, where a revised 4″ iPhone and 9.7″ iPad are expected to debut as well.

Amazing Beta it is :( When are we going to get a Jailbreak update it has been ages :(

I read somewhere that 9.3 was finally going to allow us to hide apps we do not use. Right now I have facetime, gamecenter, podcast, and some others stashed in a group called “trash” on my iphone. It is not a real big deal, but I would like it.

My iPad was ruined when we left iOS 8.4 behind. Since then it is no longer snappy. It slowed down. I have to wait sometimes for quite a while if I change App or page. Suddenly freezes, blacks out etc. I have tried the forums for help. In reality Apple should be helping!??
I have removed numerous less used Apps. It behaves as if insufficient RAM is the problem?
I have not got finances to buy a new one, if that is what they are trying to do. When it fades eventually when the battery packs up, I will probably consider an Android device. A great pity. My faithful friend has become “bitchy.”

iOS 9 destroyed many devices by turning them into slow bogged down bad experiences, much like iOS 7 destroying many prior models. Apple has a habit of doing this, making (slightly) older hardware useless by turning the software so slow and unusable that it pushes upgrades. It’s called planned obsolescence and it’s an awful business practice that churns revenue.

The best way to avoid it is to NEVER update your system software beyond the small point releases. The major update versions ALWAYS slow things down and NEVER improve anything. This has been the case regularly since iOS 6. Unfortunately now Apple is doing with the Mac too, starting with the mess that was Yosemite!

Android is cheaper, but one of the reasons the devices don’t slow down as much is usually because nobody ever updates their software. I don’t know if the performance changes that much from version to version, I gave up Android a few years ago and am primarily iOS now because of work.

      Raphael and Otto,

You two need to get rid of all your tech devices. Go back to pen & paper and a home phone.

It would be nice if ios and OS-X actually prompted the buyer of a new device rather than assuming he wants to opt into facetime, iMessage, game-center, call continuity, etc. When my phone broke, and I restored the new one from a backup, I was still re-opted into the same old Apple propritory crap that I do not use.

Apple is so heartless, they cannot figure out that I do not want every device in my house, by defaut, to ring when I get a wrong number? Seriously?

Some times I think the engineers at Apple are just playing pranks.

The color change for night sounds like a plan. Beyond that, I just need #%*€£ bug fixes.

That can cause its own set of issues if text is hard-coded as black on a dark background, icons, etc. One of the reasons dark mode hasn’t been implemented throughout the Mac OS X interface is that.

The March event is almost here and now they’re releasing beta 7. This just got me super excited lol. The only thing I’m looking for in iOS 9.3 is the ability to pair with more than one Apple Watch.

Seven betas. Better be pretty good

It’s not, tons of bugs that have long existed still exist in iOS 9.3, from freezing screens and unresponsive to touch, to the status bar overlapping Settings, to HDR turning itself off, not to mention weird crashes and reboots, email that deletes itself in a neverending loop when the iPhone is low on storage, Siri is worse than ever and mistakes half the words you say for something else, the whole shebang is not good. iOS remains internOS. All the Apple engineers must be working on the car.

      • billybobby says:

I don’t work at Apple, so……….not much I can do about it.

I use the current version of iOS and Siri works pretty good. What’s wrong with it in 9.2? and why is it “worse” in 9.3?

All your problems are the reason I don’t use beta versions of software. Using beta versions is not for everyone.
