iOS 13.7 Beta Released for Testing
Aside from the ongoing iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 beta tests, Apple has released a separate iOS 13.7 beta and iPadOS 13.7 beta.
The iOS 13.7 beta release seems to primarily focus on the COVID Exposure Notification system, which allows users to opt into COVID contact tracing through an app if one is available from local, state, or federal public health authorities (and for those wondering, these apps are not currently available in the vast majority of the USA).
It’s likely that iOS 13.7 and iPadOS 13.7 also will focus on bug fixes and improvements as well.
Most iPhone and iPad beta testers are likely running iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 betas, which are currently on beta 6, and therefore won’t find the iOS 13.7 betas available to download for their devices. Nonetheless, both developer beta and public beta versions of iOS 13.7 and iPadOS 13.7 are available for those interested in testing them out.
Users who are actively running iOS 13 betas can find the 13.7 beta download available now from the Software Update mechanism of the Settings app.
Apple usually goes through several beta versions before releasing a final version to the general public. With iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 under active development but with a fall release schedule, it’s likely that final stable builds of iOS 13.7 and iPadOS 13.7 will launch well ahead of versions 14.
