iOS 14.2 beta and iPadOS 14.2 beta

Apple has released iOS 14.2 beta 4 and iPadOS 14.2 beta 4 for users engaged in the beta testing programs for iPhone and iPad system software.

These beta releases are separate from stable versions that are available to all users. The most recent final stable build of system software for iPhone and iPad are the just released iOS 14.1 and iPadOS 14.1 versions.

iOS 14.2 beta includes new emoji icons, along with a new Shazam widget option for iPhone, and both iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 beta likely continue to improve and refine on features and bugs found in prior iOS / iPadOS 14 releases.

Additionally, new beta versions of tvOS were made available to users testing system software on their Apple TV.

iOS 14.2 beta 4 and iPadOS 14.2 beta 4 are available to download now from the Software Update mechanism on any device that is enrolled in the beta testing programs for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Due to the nature of beta system software, most users will want to avoid the beta builds and stick with final versions. Usually developer betas are available first, and soon followed by public beta releases.

Apple usually rolls through several beta builds before unveiling a final version to the general public, suggesting that iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 could be finalized in the coming weeks or sometime next month.
