Apple has released iOS 14.7.1 for iPhone and iPadOS 14.7.1 for iPad, the updates include “important security updates” and are therefore recommended for all users to install onto their compatible devices.

For iPhone users, the iOS 14.7.1 update also resolves an issue with Touch ID iPhone models being unable to unlock an Apple Watch.

Additionally, Apple also released macOS Big Sur 11.5.1 update for Mac with the same security update.

How to Download & Update iOS 14.7.1 & iPadOS 14.7.1

The simplest way to download the latest update is through the Settings app.

  1. Open the “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
  2. Go to “General”, then go to “Software Update”
  3. Choose “Download and Install” for iOS 14.7.1 or iPadOS 14.7.1

The download weighs around 120mb, and the device must reboot to complete installation.

Users can also choose to install the iOS 14.7.1 software update through iTunes on Windows, or through Finder on a Mac. This requires the device to be connected to the computer with a USB cable as well.
