iOS 15 beta

Apple has released iOS 15 beta 6 and iPadOS 15 beta 6 to users enrolled in the public beta testing programs. The public beta build number matches the previously released beta 6 developer build, as expected.

Any interested user can install iOS 15 public beta or iPadOS 15 public beta on iPhone or iPad, though beta system software is typically less stable than final versions and thus is only appropriate for advanced users.

How to Download iOS 15 & iPadOS 15 Public Beta 6

If you’re currently in the public beta program, you can download the latest version by doing the following:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Select “General” and then go to “Software Update”
  3. Download and install “iOS 15 public beta 6”

The iPhone or iPad must reboot to complete installation.

iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 include some new features that are under development, including FaceTime grid view, Live Text for selecting text within images, redesigned Safari tabs appearance, changes to many apps like Photos, Health, Messages, and Music, and more.

Features like Screen Sharing over FaceTime have been pulled from the new beta and from the initial final release, and will apparently be released at a later date. It’s speculated that Universal Control will fall into the same category, a feature which allows Mac users to share a mouse and keyboard across Mac and iPad.

The final versions of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, MacOS Monterey, watchOS 8, and tvOS 15 will be released this fall, according to Apple.

The most recent final stable versions of system software currently available are iOS 14.7.1, iPadOS 14.7.1, and macOS Big Sur 11.5.2.

New beta builds of MacOS Monterey are not yet available.
