Beta 4 of macOS Monterey 12.4, iOS 15.5, & iPadOS 15.5 Available for Testing
The fourth beta versions of macOS 12.4 Monterey, iOS 15.5, and iPadOS 15.5 are available to users participating in the beta testing programs for Apple system software.
Additionally, new betas are available for Apple Studio Display, tvOS 15.5, and watchOS 8.6 as well.
Any active user in the developer beta or public beta testing programs can get the latest beta builds on their eligible devices now.
These are not expected to significant updates with any major new features, but it’s more likely the beta builds will fix bugs and include security patches for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and the other Apple operating systems.
MacOS beta testers will find macOS Monterey 12.4 beta 4 in the Software Update mechanism of System Preferences, accessed by the Apple menu.
iOS and iPadOS beta testers can find iOS 15.5 beta 4 and iPadOS 15.5 beta 4 through the Settings app in General > Software Update.
For users with an Apple Studio Display who wish to beta test firmware on the monitor, they will need to first install the latest beta of macOS Monterey 12.4, and then they will find the Studio Display beta available. The Apple Studio Display beta update aims to improve camera quality on the display.
Apple routinely runs through several beta versions of system software before finalizing a public version that gets released to the general public. This suggests it’s likely we will see the final versions of macOS Monterey 12.4, iOS 15.5, and iPadOS 15.5 sometime in the month of May, likely before WWDC.
With WWDC 2022 just four weeks away, it’s probable that Apple is spending more time on the beta versions of the yet unveiled iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS 13, which are expected to debut as developer betas on June 6.
Currently, the most recent stable versions of system software available to the public are macOS Monterey 12.3.1, iOS 15.4.1, iPadOS 15.4.1, watchOS 8.5.1, and tvOS 15.4.1.
