New Apple Commercial: Hello Apple Vision Pro
Apple is running a commercial for Apple Vision Pro that shows off the devices appearance when wearing, and the interface the wearer sees overlayed onto the world.
The ad shows people interacting with various spatial computing interfaces and apps, from general computing tasks, to watching movies, making FaceTime video calls, interacting with panoramic photos, all while the song “Dreamer” by Roger Hodgson plays in the background of the advertisement.
Apple Vision Pro will be released on February 2, 2024.
While this may be the first significant commercial to run for Apple Vision Pro, Apple has released a series of other Vision Pro videos on YouTube recently, including:
“A Guided Tour of Apple Vision Pro”
“Making Apple Vision Pro”
“Get Ready – Apple Vision Pro”
Maybe it’s just me being impressed by the robotics, but I found the “Making Apple Vision Pro” video to be the most compelling of the group.
Sometimes people will reach out to ask my opinion on various things, and I have fielded some questions about Apple Vision Pro. The trouble is, I don’t have enough information, nor do I have any experience with it yet. I’m not sure what to make of Apple Vision Pro. I also haven’t yet used one yet. No, I don’t plan to buy one right away, it’s a little too niche for unknown use cases at the moment, especially at a $3500 price tag. But that doesn’t mean it won’t evolve into something that I want, and that many people will want, in the same way an iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, or iPad, are coveted items that serve considerable utility for the user. While the Mac, iPhone, and iPad were all immediate hits with me, I actively disliked the first Apple Watch enough to give mine away, and it wasn’t until the 7th generation where I enjoyed the Watch again. Who knows what path Apple Vision Pro will take? I sure don’t, but I’m more than happy to follow along from the sidelines, for the time being anyway.

I wonder if the Vision Pro has some ability to kick the user out of their revery if needed? It’s external sensors combined with AI and machine learning could “know” when it’s time to immediately return to the real-world?
It looks like a cool gadget, but I can’t justify the price. When Vision drops to $999 I will consider one.
Honestly I don’t even know what I would use it for!
