Fix for Wi-Fi Issues with iOS 26.1 on iPhone: Wi-Fi Not Working, Dropping, No Connection, Slow

Fix iPhone Wi-Fi Problems After iOS 26 Updates

Some iPhone users have discovered that wi-fi is not working consistently with iOS 26.1 since updating their devices, and sometimes the wi-fi stops working entirely, the connection drops, wi-fi is active but does not work, or the wi-fi connection is unusably slow, often leading to timeouts rather than established connections. Sometimes you might even see “No Internet Connection” under the router name in Wi-Fi Settings on the impacted iPhone, informing you that despite being connected to a wi-fi router, there’s not a functional internet connection to the outside world. This causes the iPhone to fall back to its cellular connection, but some users also just manually are disabling wi-fi when they encounter the wi-fi connection issues.

I’ve been dealing with this unusual wi-fi dysfunction issue since the iOS 26.1 update, and I found a reasonable solution that doesn’t nuke all of your network settings. If you’re experiencing wireless connectivity problems with iOS 26 on iPhone, try this trick out and let us know if it works to resolve it for you.

How to Fix iOS 26.1 Wi-Fi Dropping or No Internet Connection Problems

If you’ve been running into wi-fi issues since updating your iPhone to an iOS 26 release, try this out:

  1. Open the “Settings” app on iPhone that has struggling wi-fi connections
  2. Go to “Wi-Fi” and then tap on the Wi-Fi network name that you are connected to (it may or may not say “No Internet Connection”)
  3. Fix iPhone Wi-Fi Problems in iOS 26

  4. Make note of the wi-fi password (copy it to your clipboard if you’d like to make this extra fast) because you’ll be using it again in a moment, and then tap on “Forget This Network”

  6. Wait a moment until the wi-fi router disconnects
  7. Now tap to join the same wi-fi network name you just forgot, this will re-join the network, but you must enter the wi-fi password again
  8. Once reconnected to the wi-fi router, use a web browser, TikTok, Instagram, X, or whatever you’d typically use to confirm that you have an active internet connection

Everything should be working as intended again, and the wi-fi should stop dropping.

You can test this with fast.com, as you can see here’s a before and after, with fast.com not being able to load at all at first:

And after forgetting and rejoining the wi-fi network, fast.com loads as expected as wi-fi functionality has restored:

You can also go much more dramatic, and broadly reset network settings in iOS, but that causes you to lose all saved passwords and network customizations, making it a giant inconvenience and not typically necessary to resolve this particular wi-fi network problem in iOS 26.

Presumably these curious wi-fi issues are a bug that will be resolved in a future iOS 26 update, perhaps as iOS 26.2 or otherwise, but it’s important to remember that most people don’t experience these wi-fi problems at all. But if you have been experiencing unusual wireless connectivity problems, with wi-fi timing out, the internet connection failing while still connected to wi-fi, wi-fi router telling you there’s “No Internet Connection”, and dramatically reduced wi-fi performance, give this little trick a try and forget the wi-fi network and rejoin it, it worked for me.

Have you experienced any wi-fi issues with iOS 26, iOS 26.1, or any of the subsequent software updates for iPhone? Let us know your own experiences, and if this trick resolved wireless problems for your iPhone too.
