MediaFork – Easy DVD Rips for your iPod, Mac, whatever
MediaFork is a lot like HandBrake, which is fitting because it is based on it. It allows you to easily rip any DVD or DVD source folder to various movie files that can be played on your Mac, PC, and iPod. MediaFork was created because HandBrake development has stagnated, so it’s really taking off where Handbrake left off. Ripping a full DVD can take upwards of several hours, depending on the speed of your Mac’s processor, but after it’s done you can transfer it to whichever media player you deem fit. It is worth noting that MediaFork is issued under the GPL, meaning free!
Note: MediaFork has merged with HandBrake, and is actively being developed. Check out HandBrake
Converting a DVD to an iPod compatible format is easy, and the interface of MediaFork is quite simple to use.
- Insert a DVD into the drive (you can also select a Video_TS folder or DVD image)
- Select an output destination and type (H.264 for the iPod)
- Click Rip and wait
That’s it! When it’s done, simply transfer the outputted movie file to iTunes, or where ever your heart desires.

Whenever I try to use mediafork I insert the dvd (thor) and detect the disc and then press open then mediafork quits unexpectedly. I can’t figure out what the problem is. Any thoughts?
thanks a lot for dvd help
Windows users can try
http://mrbass.org/dvdrip/
It rips DVD’s to image files at least
Inserted the dvd, pressed open and it sounds like a car on a cold morning and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
At the end the image looks perfect but I just hear a buzzz instead of the original sound, have you notice that? if so, did you solve it?
Regards
Looks good to me
According to the Handbrake dev(s), I think, this is going to take the official Handbrake name soon and become the continuation of the original Handbrake project.
