Beta 2 of iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3, macOS Sonoma 14.3 Available for Testing
Apple has issued the second beta versions of iPadOS 17.3 for iPad, iOS 17.3 for iPhone (which has since been pulled), and macOS Sonoma 14.3. The new betas are available to download now for any user actively enrolled in the appropriate beta testing program.
Update: Just kidding, iOS 17.3 beta 2 has been pulled because it was bricking some iPhones during the software update – gotta love beta testing system software eh?! macOS Sonoma 14.3 beta 2 and iPadOS 17.3 beta 2 remain available, and a new version of iOS 17.3 beta 2 will likely be released soon.
macOS Sonoma 14.3 does not include any significant new features thus far, making it likely to be a bug fix and security enhancement release.
iOS 17.3 does include a new interesting feature called Stolen Device Protection which intends to make it harder to access a device after it has been stolen even if they know your password, where the device will require Face ID or Touch ID in addition to the passcode before being able to disable things like Find My and Lost Mode, or access or change passwords. It is possible the feature may change before being released to the public.
Mac beta testers can download macOS Sonoma 14.3 beta 2 from > System Settings > General > Software Update
iPad and iPhone beta testers are able to download iOS 17.3 beta 2 and iPadOS 17.2 beta through Settings > General > Software Update.
Because beta system goes through several versions before a final version is released to the public, it’s reasonable to expect the final releases of iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3, and macOS Sonoma 14.3 to arrive after several more weeks of beta testing.
The most recent stable versions of system software iOS 17.2.1 for iPhone, iPadOS 17.2.1 for iPad, and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 for Mac.
Does anyone know if Sonoma 14.3 addresses the mouse-click issues?
