Retro: 150+ Vintage Macintosh Programming Books Available in a Free Library
VintageApple has long been a fantastic collection of retro Apple and Mac materials, including old magazines, catalogs, and user guides, and now they have added a whopper collection of over 150 vintage Mac programming books available for free.
These Macintosh programming books from the 80’s and 90’s were painstakenly scanned from the actual physical books that were donated to and scanned by VintageApple, available now to the rest of us geeky retro enthusiasts for easy access as downloadable PDF files. Even non-programmer retro Mac enthusiasts are likely to get a kick out of this old book collection, because there’s manuals and user guides for things like Hypercard and ResEdit, the Macintosh tinkerer classic app.
Fire up a browser based emulator, or grab a downloadable Mac OS 8 emulator, and start reading and tinkering!
VintageApple is a great resource for various other old Apple stuff, including old editions of Mac magazines, user guides, old Mac books, user guides, catalogs, and much more. It’s one of the various great resources available online for hobbyists and retro Mac enthusiasts, and well worth checking out, and while they don’t have apps or old software downloads, other sites do.
And even if you’re brand new to programming or the ideas of it, there’s even a few beginner books and the “Dummies” series of books available, which are intended to teach programming to novices.
Have a little retro fun this weekend, or whenever you want.
Thanks to mjtsai for putting this on our radar.
