3rd Betas of MacOS Tahoe 26.6 & iOS 26.6 Available for Testing

Apple has released the 3rd beta version of MacOS Tahoe 26.6, iOS 26.6, and iPadOS 26.6, indicating the development of updates to current system software marches along. These beta versions likely focus on bug fixes and security features, as major changes and features are being prioritized for the concurrent betas of iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and iPadOS 27,
Additionally, Apple has also released new beta builds (labeled as RC, or Release Candidate) for MacOS Sequoia 15.7.8 and MacOS Sonoma 14.8.8, and those likely focus only on security patches as well.
If you’re actively running MacOS 27 Golden Gate beta, iOS 27 beta, or iPadOS 27 beta, then you will not find beta updates available to any OS 26.6 beta.
How to Download iOS 26.6 Beta 3 / iPadOS 26.6 Beta 3
For iPhone and iPad users running iOS/iPadOS 26 betas:
- Open the “Settings” app
- Go to “General” and then “Software Update”
- Download and install the latest iOS 26.6 beta 3 / iPadOS 26.6 beta 3
How to Download MacOS Tahoe 26.6 Beta 3
For Mac users running the Tahoe 26 beta:
- From the Apple menu go to “System Settings”
- Go to “General” and then choose “Software Update”
- Select to update to MacOS Tahoe 26.6 beta 3
Again, no major features or changes are expected in these releases. Since the majority of beta efforts are almost certainly being targeted on the iOS 27 beta, iPadOS 27 beta, and macOS 27 beta, it’s most likely these OS 26.6 versions are focused primarily on security fixes, addressing major bugs, and perhaps some compatibility issues (like addressing failures to install MacOS Golden Gate beta in a virtual machine, support for the upcoming iOS 27 and MacOS 27 public beta, etc).
While these beta updates are not necessarily thrilling, they can offer a rough guideline to when users can expect a new system software version available. Apple typically goes through several iterations of beta builds before issuing a final release to the general public, and with this being the third beta, but with the Sonoma and Sequoia betas being labeled as RC, it’s conceivable that the final versions of these OS 26.6 system software releases will arrive in the near-ish future.
