How to Install iOS 27 Beta on iPhone

Now that iOS 27 has been announced at WWDC 2026, any user who is registered with the Apple Developer program can download and install the iOS 27 beta onto a compatible iPhone model. And while we generally do not recommend installing the iOS 27 developer beta unless you’re an advanced user or onto a secondary device, the reality is that many people are going to throw caution to the wind and want to install the iOS 27 beta onto their iPhone.
iOS 27 has an emphasis on performance and stability improvements, Liquid Glass refinements, and lots of new Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features, plus there’s some app redesigns, and little tweaks and changes that many people will appreciate. Nonetheless it is still a beta release, and at this stage it’s an early developer beta, and thus it’s really only appropriate for advanced users to bother with. If you consider yourself to be in that category, then read along and you’ll be installing the iOS 27 beta onto your iPhone in no time.
iOS 27 beta / iPadOS 27 beta can be downloaded & installed now by developers
To qualify to receive the iOS 27 beta, you must register your Apple ID as an Apple Developer over at developer.apple.com. This is free, but if you wish to have full developer privileges, like the ability to submit apps to Apple, you will need to pay for an annual developer membership.
Just remember, early developer betas are the least stable versions of any operating system in its development cycle. We cover this extensively here as to why you should not install the iOS 27 developer beta despite it being easily accessible, and we trust that you will make the right decision for you. If you’re a more casual user, it’s better to wait for the iOS 27 public beta to arrive next month, or the iOS 27 final version in the fall.
iOS 27 Compatible iPhone Models List
iOS 27 is compatible with all iPhone models that are able to run iOS 26.
This means iOS 27 is compatible with all iPhone 17 models (meaning iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Air), all iPhone 16 models, all models of iPhone 15, all models of iPhone 14, all models of iPhone 13 , all models of iPhone 12, all models of iPhone 11, and iPhone SE 2nd generation.
Any future iPhone model released this year will obviously also support iOS 27, like the iPhone 18 series, and the foldable iPhone that is rumored too if that debuts.
How to Download & Install iOS 27 Beta 1
You absolutely must backup your device before anything else. Do this in two steps; backup iPhone to iCloud, and also backup iPhone to your Mac. This allows you to preserve your data, and the computer backup allows you to downgrade if you end up not liking the iOS 27 beta experience.
- Backup your iPhone if you have not done so already
- Join the Apple Developer program at developer.apple.com with your Apple ID
- Now open the “Settings” app on iPhone
- Go to “General”, and then go to “Software Update”
- Tap on “Beta Updates” (if you don’t see this, it’s likely because your Apple ID has not yet joined the Apple developer program)
- Select “iOS 27 Developer Beta”
- Go back to Software Update, and choose “Update Now” to download and install iOS 27 beta

The iPhone will download and install iOS 27 beta from the developer seed, it installs just like any other iOS update to the device meaning it will require a restart to finish. When complete, you’ll be presented with a welcome screen, a slider for Liquid Glass settings, and finally the iOS 27 home screen.

Just remember this is a developer beta, so do not expect everything to work as expected, but you’ll be getting an early look at all the new changes and features.
Also, if you’re looking for Siri AI and the new Siri app, at present you will have to join the waitlist to gain access to that. You will also need an Apple Intelligence compatible iPhone to have the latest and greatest AI features, which is any iPhone 16 model or newer.
This obviously covers installing the iOS 27 beta onto an iPhone, but you can also download and install iPadOS 27 beta onto iPad, and you can download and install macOS Golden Gate 27 beta onto a Mac too, along with watchOS 27 beta, tvOS 27 beta, and visionOS 27 beta, if you’re interested in those as well.

What is it Paul Horowitz. Install or not install the beta on the iPhone. On the 9th you say don’t but the next day you you show people how to install it.
