WiFind – Wireless Network Locator for the Airport menu

Wireless networks are nearly everywhere nowadays, often you’ll be in range of several at a time. With so many seemingly available wifi networks, how do you know which to join? Enter WiFind, a cool little utility that integrates seamlessly into your existing Airport menu as a plugin, allowing you to see more than just wireless networks. WiFind adds icons to display signal strength and if the network is locked or unlocked, saving you the time and effort of checking on your own. WiFind is shareware, and costs $8. Won’t work in Snow Leopard
It should auto-update. That would be really cool.
Apple does include something free — the airport utility (in Panther, at least):
# cd /usr/local/bin
# ln -s /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resources/airport
I kind of agree with Thumper. Though it’s not quite as convenient, iStumbler serves this same purpose and a whole lot more. It’s free too. http://www.istumbler.net/
I like the idea but there’s no way I’m shelling out $8 for something that should be free and included from Apple anyway
It’s sad to say but Windows has a better system of discovering and displaying wireless networks
