OS X 10.8.2 Developer Release 12C31a

The first developer build of OS X 10.8.2 has been made available to Mac Developers as build 12C31a, 9to5mac notes. The update focuses on features that will probably arrive in the Fall presumably alongside iOS 6 and the next iPhone, including integrating Facebook into OS X much like Twitter, in addition to updates made to iMessages, Game Center, Safari, and Reminders.

Earlier, the first update to OS X Mountain Lion arrived as 10.8.1 and has been made available to everyone to resolve a variety of bugs and issues that impacted some Macs running Mountain Lion.

Registered Mac developers can download the 10.8.2 build through Apple’s Developer Center.

Pap. One more feature I’ll have to disable.

  2. mitch says:

My macbook pro 13 inch will not restart properly. I get the constantly spinning on the screen. In order to restart I have to hold power down until the screen turns off and then press it again to start.

This was happening before the lion upgrade but I hoped the upgrade would fix it but did not. Can anyone here offer any suggestions????

  3. Theo Vosse says:

It’s just absurd. If Apple really wants to enter the commodity market with their computers, they should just sell PCs. OEM everything, and look how much you save. Your stock holders will love you for it. Well, the first 24 hours.

  4. Robert says:

How about fixing Parental Controls while they’re at it?!

  5. Tom says:

Nooooooo!!! This is a joke, right?!? Great, Farmville and the greatest spy system ever devised becomes integrated into OS X whatever. Sorry, that is no longer an operating system. The day FB gets integrated into OS X Farmville_1.0, count me out!

  6. Michael says:

Oh no! Facebook integration means I can no long develop or use my iMac for professional tasks! Oh wait, no it doesn’t.

  7. Eduardo says:

I don’t care about Facebook either, so what I’ll do is simply NOT enable it. No need to complain about it.

    • Bink of Boldhome says:

It’s bloat, and it hastens the obsolescence of hardware that would otherwise be quite capable of running it if it were specifically left as an *operating system* (as opposed to a bunch of senseless tripe).

  8. Harvey says:

I’m not impressed with the filigree until they fix what’s structural, in this case Finder:

    1. The empty-folder problem that is new with Mountain Lion.

    2. Icon preview in dialog boxes, even if the folder doesn’t have icon preview turned on. This is a new problem.

    3. Desktop items with the wrong icon, or no icon at all. This is along-standing problem.

  9. John says:

I guess Apple really wants me to switch to Windows 7.

  10. Matt G. says:

Aha! I found it. In “mail, contacts, etc.”
It has integration through safari and the notification center only so far as I can see.

  11. Matt G says:

I don’t know, but I have been digging around in .2 for an hour now and I have not seen Facebook integration yet. I think you would be able to turn it off though. I’m still looking for it!

  12. Gabe says:

So I agree with other professional users here: the last thing I want is tweet this share that facebook this and that in my operating system. I’m trying to work, not share what app I’m using with friends.

The social thing is burnt out and overdone, just not into it and really don’t care for it to be in OS X.

  13. GoodGG says:

Facebook integration? We don’t need no stinkin’ Facebook integration!

Doesn’t Apple look at the stock performance of Facebook…?

Yeah, I need Facebook integration when I’m burning the midnight lamp using CS6 for prowork…

    Snow Leopard forever!

  14. Bink of Boldhome says:

    Uggh! What’s next? MySpace integration?

It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds as the fad known as Facebook is supplanted by whatever fickle users decide to adopt.

  15. Kenneth says:

    YAY!
