You Can Jailbreak iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 with Pangu… For Windows
The Pangu group has released a utility that will jailbreak iOS 8.1 on any iPhone or iPad device which can run the latest iOS release, including the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The jailbreak is untethered and includes Cydia, but there’s a catch… at the moment the Pangu 1.1 tool runs only on Windows, though a Mac version is said to be in the works and will debut soon.
It’s important to note that while jailbreaking iOS 8.1 (or any other version of iOS 8.0) is fairly easy with the free Pangu tool, users should exercise caution and understand there are many reasons why they should not jailbreak, including a variety of risks and limitations that may occur when using unofficial third party tools to modify their devices system software. Apple also does not condone the practice, and jailbreaking an iPhone or iPad may void the devices warranty. Users considering a jailbreak should have an advantaged knowledge of iOS with a complete understanding of the risks associated with the practice, and should always perform a backup before proceeding with the process. Adequate backups allow for a user to unjailbreak the device if desired or necessary.
Compatible devices include iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini Retina, iPad Mini Retina 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, or iPod touch 5th gen, running either iOS 8.0 through iOS 8.1. As already mentioned this specific version is currently for Windows only, so unless you have a Windows PC, or Windows running in Boot Camp or a virtual machine on your Mac, those with OS X only would have to sit on the sidelines until a full Mac version is released. The only other requirement is a USB cable to temporarily connect the device to the computer to complete the jailbreak.
Those interested in the jailbreak can download and find the Pangu tool on the Pangu.io website here. The windows based utility looks easy to use and includes on-screen instructions.
iOS has gained many features natively that were long known to be accessibly exclusively to jailbreakers, ranging from things like Wi-Fi Personal Hotspot, interactive Notifications, lock screen camera access, and much more. There continues to be functionality and features that are limited to jailbroken devices, particularly relating to changes to the iOS appearance, which leads many iPhone and iPad owners to still want to jailbreak their devices.
We do not recommend jailbreaking, mostly because it can cause a device to behave erratically and crash more often, thereby potentially degrading the user experience of iOS. It’s important to know that Apple is also very opposed to jailbreaks for a variety of reasons and will not support devices that are jailbroken. Nonetheless, many advanced iPhone and iPad users wish to modify their iOS software using these tools, and those users may find the Pangu tool to be suitable for them.
Hello. After I upted Iphone 4s to ios 8.1 I can’t create a backup copy in Itunes. It says it’s unable to create a backup because my Iphone hasn’t finished the Setup :(( It’s really weard ’cause I made a Setup as always after recovering Iphone .
is this jailbreak took opensource?
Do all you guys work for Apple. If you don’t want to JB your phone don’t then. I own my phone paid for it and I’ll do what I want. You all sound like bunch from the wussy class. Don’t tell me JB isn’t any good.
Rusty.
You tell em Rusty I totally agree with you 100% I bought and paid for my Iphone and Ipad I can do what ever I want with it and I been jailbreaking ever since it started.
IOS without jail breaking is boring and XBMC are the best app in Cydia, don’t forget about Ringtones, you will make your phone real fun to use when do jailbreak.
If you’re not interested in jail break then don’t. What’s the why is it that those who think it’s pointless have to make a fuss? There is nothing wrong with it.
if you want to jailbreak and experiment, go for it.
You can add mxtube that downloads youtube videos the app store version no longer does and a screen recorder.
It says that the jailbreak is compatible with all iOS 8-compatible devices. iPad mini 1 is actually compatible with iOS 8, you know…
Yes correct, Pangu works to jailbreak the iPad Mini, iPad Mini Retina, and iPad Mini Retina 2 with iOS 8, iOS 8.2, and iOS 8.1.
I was excited to update and jailbreak my ipad on ios 8. After it was jailbroken it was frequently crashing, safari crashes and reloads from time to time, device suddenly reboots. Now I ended up restoring the device without the jailbreak.
What are you guys on about?! I was holding back on buying an iPhone 6 until now. There are still plenty of cydia tweaks and apps not available or approved by apple. So to say Jailbreaking is pointless is a little narrow minded.
How can you say someone is narrow minded if they choose not to jailbreak and customise their devices. What, everyone has to think the way you do now?
Yeah, I don’t really know what a jailbreak would give me anymore… Once upon a time, sure. But nowadays I don’t see the point. BUT that’s not to say I wish to diminish these guy’s accomplishment. I think it’s great that they’re keeping the banner high, and preserving our right to do what we want with our phone! I salute you!
Jail breaking is boring now. I don’t see why bother.
I really don’t see the appeal to jailbreaking any more, and I am saying this as someone who used to be really interested in it. What do we really need for iOS? I guess you can add different icons and make the icon sizes and text bigger or smaller, that’s probably the only feature that I could imagine wanting that is jailbreak only at this point. Otherwise, what’s the point?
The last time I jailbroke was with the iPhone 5S and other Pangu tool, my phone crashed more often and I just wondered to myself, what’s the point now, there are no Cydia apps that I need any more, so why? Once upon a time with tethering, MyWi and all that, I very much understood, but for now, I don’t see why jailbreaking is worth it.
100% agree. I lost interest with iOS 7. There’s only so much customising one can do before it becomes repetitive and boring.
