Apple has released a series of TV commercials for AirPods, their new wireless headphones. The set of AirPods advertisements are set in black and white, and several follow a guy wearing AirPods as he dances around the street defying physics, while another uses the physical AirPods units as music notes as they play across the screen.

Additionally, a new Apple Watch commercial is airing focusing on the activity tracking feature of the device.

Ever since Apple redesigned the iOS lock screen to remove swipe-to-unlock and require users to press the Home button instead, some iPhone users have discovered that accessing the Camera from the lock screen might be a challenge. The potentially difficult scenario is this; if you press the Home button to show the locked display which you would then swipe to access the iPhone Camera from, pressing the Home button also unlocks the iPhone and skips the lock screen with the camera access. I recently ran into someone who was convinced this set of actions meant their iPhone lock screen camera wasn’t working or no longer existed, so the behavior can lead to some degree of confusion as well.

Fortunately there’s a better way to access the iPhone camera from the lock screen in iOS 10 and newer, and it doesn’t involve using the Home button at all.

When you download any file in Chrome that file defaults to saving into the downloads folder, which resides int he users home directory. It’s generally recommended to preserve the default setting to save Chrome downloads into the user Downloads folder, but some individuals may wish to change where Chrome saves files to.

You can adjust the Chrome download location and set it to any other directory or folder by manually tweaking the apps settings.

If you have an iPhone and Windows 10 PC, you probably would like to know how to transfer photos from the iPhone to the computer. With Windows 10, there are several ways to quickly copy files to the PC, and we’ll show you two of the best approaches using the Windows 10 Photos app to directly import photos to the PC (similar to copying pictures from iPhone into Photos app on Mac), and the more hands-on method of using Windows Explorer to copy photos to Windows 10 via the file system.

Command line users rely on the ‘kill’ command to terminate a process as defined by the appropriate process identifier (PID). While there’s nothing wrong with targeting processes by their PID, another approach which is often easier is to target a process by name, rather than its unique identifier.

There are a few ways to kill a process by process name, we’ll review two primary methods using killall and pkill. These will work the same in Mac OS / X and linux, and they can be used to target GUI apps and processes as well as those running in the background or exclusively at the command line. Either command can be prefixed with sudo to terminate root level tasks or those owned by another user.

Tabs offer an excellent way to manage multiple windows without overly cluttering the screen of a Mac, a feature which is particularly valuable for smaller screen displays. Like many other apps in new Mac OS releases, the Apple Maps app for Mac now includes the ability to have multiple tabs of maps open concurrently, either in conjunction with multiple Maps windows or as a replacement for juggling multiple maps windows.

The Touch Bar on MacBook Pro changes dynamically depending on what application is open and what action is going on within Mac OS. Or at least, that’s what’s supposed to happen. Rarely, the Touch Bar stops working, will get stuck and become unresponsive, maybe even display an erroneous button, or show a blank button that doesn’t do anything. Typically the Touch Bar gets itself back in working order once the troubled application in question becomes responsive, exited, or the app is force quit, but sometimes you may need to manually force the Touch Bar to refresh and reload.

We’ll show you how to relaunch Touch Bar on a Mac, as well as how to target just the Control Strip portion of Touch Bar to force that to refresh.

Many iPhone users send and receive pictures in Messages app for iOS, but have you ever wanted to save a photo from Messages app to your iPhone or iPad? Maybe it’s a picture you received from someone else that you want to save locally, or perhaps it’s a photo you took with the camera directly from Messages app.

For those MacBook Pro owners with higher end models that include dual video cards (integrated and discrete GPU), you’re likely aware that Mac OS and certain apps will switch between the two graphics cards as is determined necessary. The idea behind this is for apps to use the integrated GPU when attempting to conserve power and battery life, and to use the discrete GPU when attempting to maximize graphics performance at the expense of battery and increased power consumption.

Generally speaking GPU switching is a great feature that should not be modified or adjusted in any way, but some advanced Mac users may wish to disable the automatic graphics card switching feature on MacBook Pro models.

The Health app on iPhone is primarily used to track fitness and activity, and likely much more once the Apple Watch and other sensors connect to the device, but another handy and lesser known feature is called Medical ID. Medical ID can be filled out on your iPhone to show important information about the iPhones owner, and it can be checked on another users iPhone too – assuming they placed appropriate details.

Medical ID can show an iPhone owners name, birthdate, medical conditions, medical notes, relatives and partners, emergency contact information, blood type, whether you’re an organ donor or not, weight, height, and other details you want to add as well.

The built-in trackpad on MacBook Pro and MacBook functions as the primary input method of the Apple laptops, but if you primarily use an external mouse or external trackpad you may occasionally find the built-in trackpad receives input you’d rather the Mac ignore.
