Make Your White iPad 2 Glow

glowing white iPad 2 frame

The white iPad 2 just got even cooler; if you shine a light on the edge of the iPad 2, the white frame lights up in a snazzy glow.

The image above was pulled from a YouTube video which is circulating around Twitter that shows off the effect. In the video, an iPhone 4’s camera flash is used to light up the frame, but obviously any other light source would work as well. LED case idea anyone?

Watch the video of the glow in action:

Something tells me that an iPad 2 case maker will build something that takes advantage of this rather quickly. A low power LED bulb would likely be enough to cause the frame to glow, and it could be individually powered by a tiny battery.

If you’re still trying to find an iPad 2, welcome to the club, but really, be sure to check iPad 2 stock at local stores by calling them directly. I continue to contact stores and update the iPad 2 availability page, but what I find is likely different from locale to locale.

Update: 9to5Mac also has a video showing the white iPad 2 bezel glowing green, thanks to a laser pointer:

Looks like just about any color light source will work, fancy.
