Apple has released two minor software updates for Mac users, OS X 10.8.5 Supplemental Update and iTunes 11.1.1. Users who are currently running OS X Mountain Lion will find the Supplemental Update available in Software Update, and all users with iTunes 11.1 installed will find the 11.1.1 update available there as well.

OS X 10.8.5 supplemental update and iTunes 11.1.1

The two updates are fairly minor but are recommended for all Macs that are eligible for the updates. OS X users can download both of the updates right now from Software Update and the Mac App Store, as accessed through the  Apple menu.

OS X 10.8.5 Supplemental Update

Officially labeled as “OS X 10.8.5 Supplemental Update 1.0”, the minor update for Mountain Lion users resolves an issue that prevented some apps from accessing the front-facing camera on certain MacBook Air models, resolves a problem that caused external drives from ejecting themselves after the Mac was put to sleep, fixes a problem that caused HDMI audio output to stop working after being woken from sleep (if the quick-toggle audio trick wasn’t working for you, this fixes it), and it is also said to resolve an issue that prevented some USB Bluetooth adapters from working. Why didn’t Apple just version this as OS X 10.8.6? Who knows.

iTunes 11.1.1

iTunes 11.1.1 is a minor update that resolves a few bugs, one of which caused iTunes Extras to display incorrectly, it resolves a issue with deleted podcasts, and it also is said to improve the general stablity of iTunes in general.
