OS X 10.10.3 Beta 7 Released for Developer Testing

Apr 2, 2015 - 8 Comments

OS X Yosemite Apple has released a seventh beta version of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, just a few days after releasing the sixth beta.

The rapid beta testing release schedule either suggests the final public version of OS X 10.10.3 is approaching quickly, or perhaps that an important fix is included in the seventh beta version, though the former is probably more likely.

The latest build number of OS X 10.10.3 arrives versioned as 14D130a and continues to emphasize Photos app for Mac.

Users who are participating in the OS X Public Beta program or who are enrolled in the Mac Developer program can find the update available now through the Software Update function of OS X, accessible via the  Apple menu > App Store > Updates tab. Installing the update requires the Mac to be rebooted.

The most notable feature of OS X 10.10.3 remains the Photos application, which will replace iPhoto as a hub for Mac picture management. Photos for Mac is quite similar to the Photos for iOS app on an iPhone or iPad, though it is more featured as would be expected on a desktop.

The standard Photos app GUI looks a lot like iOS

Photos app looks to be a great OS X app, but some Mac users making quick image modifications may continue to use apps like Preview for saving other image file formats in a quick manner, and performing some other modifications that are not yet possible with Photos for app.

OS X 10.10.3 also includes update emoji icons and support for Google two-step authentication. Other features, enhancements, and bug fixes are likely to be included.

At the moment, the most recent public version of OS X Yosemite remains 10.10.2. Given the increased release schedule, users could reasonably expect OS X 10.10.3 to be available to Yosemite users fairly soon.

My wifi is now a lot better then it was before. Safari is faster. Since the update to 14D130a I lost my wificonnection only ones.

I have two Devolo adapters on two different places in my house. The only ignoring thing is that when I move my Macbook Air from one place in my house to an other clother to the other adapter, it has still difficulties with changing the wificonnection from one apapter to the other.

any wi-fi fix? Any performance improvements?

    Sigh…

    • Sadly, no on the wifi. My MacBook Pro still has problems with its DNS cache after waking from sleep for more than a few minutes. It’s even worse when I move from one location to another. If I leave home, or someone’s office, the next time I try to get back online, I have to either wait 2-3 minutes or I have to issue a command to reset my DNS cache via Terminal. It’s pathetic. It’s as if Apple is totally ignoring this blatant obvious problem. They know it’s happening to a lot of people yet they just keep on going as if nothing’s happening.

OK Apple just release this already, OS X Yosemite is in dire need of a good update to help performance, stability, and yea we all like new features! Crossing my fingers this helps with networking instability… and stops the awful graphics lag and WindowServer CPU spikes.

My take: OS X 10.10.3 will be available as a Software Update for everyone next Tuesday.
