Seventh Beta of OS X 10.11.4 Available for Testing

OS X El Capitan

Apple has released OS X 10.11.4 beta 7 to Mac users in the developer beta testing and public beta testing programs. The new build arrives as 15E64a and includes bug fixes and feature improvements to the beta release.

Mac users running a current beta version of OS X 10.11.4 can download the seventh beta version from the Mac App Store.

Anyone can choose to participate in the public beta testing programs, but considering the final version is expected next week there is little reason to bother with installing the beta release over a stable build at this point.

OS X 10.11.4 will include support for Live Photos in the Messages app on the Mac, as well as password protected notes that can sync with iPhone and iPad devices running iOS 9.3. A 7th beta build of iOS 9.3 is also available to users in the beta testing programs.

The final version of OS X 10.11.4 is expected to launch to the general public next week at an Apple event scheduled for March 21, where a smaller iPhone and revamped iPad are also assumed to launch, as well a the final versions of iOS 9.3, WatchOS 2.2, and tvOS 9.2.

Nope, none of my aggravations fixed.

My El Capitan server running stable has been flawless (in terms of uptime, and not communicating diagnostics). Obviously Apple’s commitment to the main release is palpable; I’m not complaining that betas are by nature beta. But I do wonder if perhaps it’s time for me to finally stop getting my hopes up, and (at least until the next OS X release) cancel my use and testing of betas. Because, really, all the issues have been reported, and we’re half-way around the release cycle, and already on the fourth point-release, and nothing’s happening. So that probably means that, just like Yosemite before it, it’ll be ready at about the time the next one comes, and we’ll once again have to choose between “new, fast, buggy” and “old, slow, steady”. I’m already thinking of rolling my main desktop back to Yosemite …

Perhaps the trick is to test for Apple when the software is at its freshest. Get them bugs in early.

I just don’t know any more.

    Windows?

I have enrolled with the beta program several times. Installed the beta software, and then entered the App Store. But I cannot for the life of me download the latest beta software.
