iPadOS 13.1 download is available now

Apple has released iPadOS 13.1 for iPad users. iPadOS 13.1 is the first release of the new iPadOS system software for iPad and it includes many improvements and interesting features, making it a compelling update for iPad owners. Additionally, Apple also released iOS 13.1 update for iPhone and iPod touch, and tvOS 13 for Apple TV.


All users with an iPadOS 13 compatible iPad can install the software update right now onto their device.

If you haven’t yet prepared your device for iPadOS 13 then now may be a good time to do so.

iPadOS 13.1 brings many new exciting features to the iPad, including a dark mode theme option, a redesigned Home Screen, support for external mouse, SMB file sharing and external storage support in Files app, new multitasking capabilities, Apple Pencil improvements, and all the features of iOS 13 as well like improvements to Photos, Reminders, and Notes apps, new Animoji and Memoji features, and much more. How to Update & Install iPadOS 13.1

Backup the iPad to iCloud before beginning, failure to backup a device can result in permanent data loss.

  1. Open the “Settings” app on the iPad, then go to “General”
  2. Choose “Software Update” and when iPadOS 13.1 appears, tap on “Download & Install”

The iPad will reboot to complete installation.

Similarly, iOS 13.1 update is available to download right now for iPhone and iPod touch as well.

Another option is to update to iPadOS 13.1 through iTunes on Mac or Windows PC, or by using Finder in MacOS Catalina. By connecting an iPad to a computer with the latest iTunes or Catalina, the software update will be able to be updated directly from there. Advanced users can also use IPSW files, which are linked further below.

Though fairly unlikely, you may encounter some iOS 13 / iPadOS 13 update issues that can be resolved with these troubleshooting tricks.

If you’re currently on the beta release of iPadOS 13.1 you’ll want to update to the final version and then remove the beta profile from the device to stop getting further beta system software updates.

The release notes included with the iPadOS 13.1 download are as follows:

Home Screen

Multitasking
– Slide Over with support for multiple apps to access your favorite apps from anywhere in iPadOS and quickly switch between them
– Multiple windows from a single app in Split View to work with two documents, notes, or emails, side-by-side
– Enhanced Spaces to open the same app across multiple spaces
– App Exposé to quickly see all of the open windows for an app

Apple Pencil
– Lower latency with Apple Pencil, making it feel more responsive than ever
– Redesigned tool palette, with a fresh new look, new tools, and the ability to drag to any side of the screen
– A new gesture to mark up anything with a swipe from the bottom right or left corner of the screen with Apple Pencil
– A new full page option to mark up entire web pages, Mail messages, iWork documents, and Maps

Text Editing
– Scrollbar scrubbing to directly drag the scrollbar for quickly navigating long documents, web pages, and email conversations
– Faster and more precise cursor navigation–just pick it up and move it to where you want
– Text selection improvements for easier selection by just tapping and swiping on the text

    downloaded iPadOS 13.1update a few hours ago- and lost my wi-fi connection. Have spent far too much time troubleshooting. Can not even reset. Can someone please offer suggestion/solutions? Thanks

    So far, so good. When I first powered up my ipad it said my software was up to date. Tried it again and 13.1 was available for download. Currently updating as I type this on my other communication device. By the way, I make videos on YouTube so this update is important.
