Beta 1 of MacOS Golden Gate 27, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, Available to Download
Apple has released the first beta versions of the all new iOS 27, iPadOS 27, MacOS Golden Gate 27, watchOS 27, and tvOS 27, to users who are enrolled to participate in the developer beta testing programs for Apple system software.
With a big emphasis on performance improvements, feature refinements, a new Siri app, and new Apple Intelligence features, many users are excited about the latest OS 27 beta suite being available already, but these are betas aimed at developers, not casual users.
It’s important to remember that developer beta versions of system software are buggier and less stable than final versions, meaning they are not recommended for typical users, and are really only appropriate for secondary hardware to be run by advanced users. Nonetheless, anyone can enroll their device and Apple ID, and download and install them, if they’re brave enough.
While you must enroll your Apple ID in the developer beta program to access the betas, that part is free, but if you want to be able to develop and submit apps, you’ll need the paid developer membership.
Backup your iPhone, iPad, Mac, before installing beta system software
It is absolutely critical to backup your device before installing any beta system software.
For Mac, backup to Time Machine.
For iPhone and iPad, backup to a computer, archive that backup to secure it locally, and also backup to iCloud.
Failure to backup could result in permanent data loss.
How to Download iOS 27 Beta 1 / iPadOS 27 Beta 1
- Backup your iPhone/iPad locally as well as to iCloud
- Open “Settings” app on the iPhone or iPad
- Go to “General” and then to “Software Update”
- Tap on “Beta Updates” and then choose “iOS 27 Developer Beta” or “iPadOS 27 Developer Beta”
- Return to Software Update to find the iOS 27 Beta or ipadOS 27 Beta available to install to your device
How to Download MacOS Golden Gate 27 Beta 1
- Go to Apple menu, then go to System Settings
- Go to “General” and then to “Software Update”
- Click on “Beta Updates”
- Choose “MacOS Golden Gate 27 Developer Beta”
- Choose to install the MacOS Golden Gate 27 beta
