MacOS Monterey Beta

Apple has released the first beta version of macOS Monterey 12.1 for Mac users participating in the beta system software testing program.

The beta build presumably focuses on bug fixes and enhancements to the macOS Monterey operating system, and also includes some features that were skipped in the initial release, including SharePlay support.

Users who are interested in Universal Control will continue to wait as the beta does not appear to support that feature, yet anyway.

Those who are enrolled in the beta testing program for macOS Monterey can find macOS Monterey 12.1 developer beta 1 available to download now via the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences.

Typically a developer beta build rolls out first and is soon followed by a public beta release.

Since this is the first beta, it will be a while before the macOS Monterey 12.1 release is available for all users.

MacOS Monterey 12.0.1, the first version available to the general public, was released a few days ago to all users.

Separately, iOS 15.2 beta 1 and iPadOS 15.2 beta 1 are available for testing, with iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 available as final versions for all users.

I just installed Monterey on a 2020 MBA with M1. Lost Bluetooth function. Apparently this is a widespread problem. I wonder, don’t the beta testers check for obvious important functions like Bluetooth? Guess not. Now I have to wait for the next version.

I’m pretty sure this is the 2nd Beta. The first being 12.0.1 which Apple is currently distributing and which I am currently running and which does not fix the reboot if usb device is plugged in problem :-(
