If you have credit cards saved into Apple Wallet on the iPhone for ease of use and Apple Pay, like the Apple Card, then you may occasionally run into a situation where you need the CVV code number, or security code number, that is associated with that credit card.

By now you’ve probably tapped around on the Wallet to no avail, tapping on a card doesn’t show you what you’re looking for, so what next? It turns out the security code is tucked a little layer deeper in the Wallet app.

How to Find Credit Card Security Code in Apple Wallet

Making a purchase and need the CVV security code of your Apple credit card? Here’s how you can find that in the Wallet app:

  1. Open the Apple Wallet app on iPhone
  2. Tap on “Apple Card”
  3. Tap the three dots button in the upper right corner, it looks like (…)
  4. Tap on “Card Information” and look for “See Security Code”

And there you go, you can find the three digit CVV security code, which you sometimes need for verification when making purchases.

Curiously, there does not seem to be a way to get this information from some other credit cards added into Apple Wallet, and there also does not appear to be a way to get much of this information from the Apple Pay section of System Preferences on a Mac. These seem to be critical features that are missing from the Wallet app, so perhaps they’ll be added down the road.

Do you know of another way to get the security code CVV number from Apple Wallet or from credit cards added to your iPhone? Let us know in the comments!

Is there a way to see my cvv number if I don’t have a cell phone? I can’t see it when I added it to my Mac in settings.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Brilliant idea!!!
Except Afterpay has no physical card! Doesn’t even let me see the account number let alone CCV 🤷‍♂️

I have tried to find this and it’s just simply not there according to the I instructions. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and I still can’t find my card number or cvv. Is there another way to find out my card number and cvv?

Hello. Doesn’t work for me either. The ellipsis doesn’t give a show security code on iPhone 12 promax running iOS 15.5

    • Curt says:

Instead of the ellipses select the icon that looks like a credit card with 123.

      • chobbs says:

I don’t have a credit card 123 icon, I only have ellipsis on my Wallet cards. If I tap on that with Apple Card I see the CVV. If I tap on that with other cards I do not.

Since everyone seems to be having a different issue here, my thinking is that the implementation is different, depending on the cards and depending on maybe some other factor. This is one thing I don’t like about Modern Apple, consistency is lacking.

I make a Contact card for each credit card in my Wallet app. In the notes section of that Contact card I write the card’s expiration date and CVV, plus anything else that might be useful to know about that CC. I don’t write the card number there, but at least I have access to the other information I occasionally need. Hope this helps…

Does not work on IOS 15.5 iPhone 13 Pro
‘See security code’ is not present as an option.

If you have 1Password you can save your CVV code in the vault, it is very safe.

    Hi,
This does not work for me either. Running iOS15.5 on iPhone 13.

Works for me with Apple Card on iOS 15.5 but it does not work with my other card in iOS 15.5, Way to be consistent Apple, the Microsoft of the modern era.

    Hello,
Not for me with a Visa card. iOS 15.5, iPhone 12 Pro, the 3 dots do not reveal “Card Information”.

I’m on IOS 15.5 and this doesn’t happen.

  15. Mark Bergman says:

Does anyone proof these articles? Is is NOT the “…” that reveals the CVV, but the icon to the left of the three dots that looks like the back of a credit card.

    • en says:

Depends on your iOS version? The three dots shows it on my Apple Card

    • Rick says:

Mark, I access my code exactly like you did. Proof-reading mistakes like this occur 2 or 3 times a week in this newsletter. My j-professor was ruthless about stuff like this. Ouch!

    • Peter says:

I don’t have an icon that looks like the back of a card next to mine, I only have the three dots button, Mark.

Mark do you proof read your comments before posting them?! There is no icon that shows the back of a credit card! The only button to the left is ‘Done’ and that closes the credit card. Mark, why are you making things up and leading us astray? At least the article is accurate!

I think the comments bozos posting anything they want causes confusion since clearly they don’t know what they are doing!

~ Peter, iPhoneOS 15.5 with iPhone 12, Apple Card

PS: Here is what APPLE says, which does not even work for me either, so maybe they proof read like Mark does:

      On your iPhone
-Open the Wallet app and tap Apple Card.
-Tap the card number icon , then authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
-Next to Card Number, you can see your virtual card number.
