How to Hide Suggested Posts on Instagram

Jun 18, 2022 - 2 Comments

Instagram used to be a photo sharing app, but in an apparent effort to compete with the nonsense promoter and adversarial whacky psyop farm known as TikTok, your photo feed is now often filled with annoying “suggested posts” TikToky video clips that are not from people you follow and not from things you are even interested in. Instead, you’ll often see nonstop eye-catching trash with some catchy tune or audio from a movie to try and encourage mindless consumption and juice engagement numbers. Annoying, right?

If you’re fed up with the relentless Suggested Posts crapola fest on Instagram, you’ll be happy to know that you can hide those – at least for 30 days at a time anyway.

How to Disable Suggested Posts on Instagram

  1. Locate any Suggested Post in your Instagram
  2. Tap the (X) near the top of the suggested garbage, or the three dots at the top of the suggested post (…)
  3. Hide suggested posts on Instagram

  4. Tap on “Snooze all suggested posts for 30 days”
  5. Snooze suggested posts for 30 days

  6. Enjoy seeing your actual feed again

You’ll have to redo this process in another 30 days obviously, but at least you’ll have 30 days of stuff from people you actually follow and things you have an interest in.

You’ll still have to wade through tons of nonsensical sponsored posts and ads (though you can choose to hide those too, on a per-ad basis anyway), but at least you won’t be subjected to the short ridiculous click-baity video clip rubbish.

You may also appreciate setting your Instagram feed to be chronological again to avoid the algorithm strangeness too.

Unfortunately even the snoozing is not available anymore. Instagram has become an unpleasant experience. For every 5 posts of the accounts I follow, I see 5 suggestions and 5 ads!!! I don’t think it will take long before I delete the app.

I recently got fed up with the Instagram app and stopped using it. I recently started a new instagram account and only followed users that I wanted to see their content but using the app that is totally NOT possible. In addition to the numerous “suggested posts”…feels like every other post….you get a ton of ads. And if you ever liked a post especially an unrelated post you start getting ads and suggestions so much so that you don’t get the feeds that you wish to view. Instagram has really screwed up with these changes to their app.

When accessing from a webpage using Safari on the iphone or via the Grids Mac app I can stop that nonsense.

I wouldn’t mind if I got an occasional ad or suggested post but when it is 7 out of 10 posts that is a bit much!!
