How to force restart any iPhone 13 model

Did you get an iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, or iPhone 13 mini, and you are curious about how to force restart the iPhone 13? Whether you want to force restart for troubleshooting or any other reason, it’s easy to do, once you learn the required technique.

You’ll find that a forced restart on these iPhone models requires a series of button presses, which if you’re unfamiliar with the process or are new to the iPhone platform, may not be obvious or intuitive to new users.

Forced restarts are usually initiated because there is something going wrong with the iPhone 13 model, like an app is frozen or the iPhone itself seems to be unresponsive, or perhaps there is some other unusual behavior going on and you want to see if a forced reboot fixes the issue.

Let’s take a look at how you can initiate a forced restart on iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max models.

How to Force Restart iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Mini, & iPhone 13

Here’s how you can restart your iPhone 13 series:

  1. First, press and release the Volume Up button
  2. Next, press and release the Volume Down button
  3. Finally, press and hold the Power button, the power button is located on the right side of the iPhone 13 series
  4. Continue holding the Power button until you see an  Apple logo appear on screen

After you see the  Apple logo, the restart has been initiated and you can let go of the button. The iPhone will restart, and it may take slightly longer than usual to boot back up again due to the nature of a forced restart.

And there you go, you have successfully forcibly restarted your iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13.

Forced restarts are a common troubleshooting trick, so this is a worthwhile procedure to know how to perform. And whether you call it a force restart, or a forced reboot, it’s the same thing. Some people also refer to a force restart as a ‘force reset’ but that’s not really an accurate representation, considering the reset process typically involves clearing all data on the device, which is absolutely not what happens here. A force reboot simply restarts the device, interrupting whatever is currently going on, to turn it off and back on again.

Do you find yourself using forced restarts often on your iPhone 13? Why do you typically use this procedure? Let us know your experiences in the comments.

I would not make a habit of hard resetting the phone, basically you’re crashing the OS. It’s always preferable to do a graceful shutdown. The filesystems today are good but not perfect.
