How to Share an AirTag with Someone Else
Sharing an AirTag with someone makes it super easy for multiple people to track a single item through the Find My app and network. For example, maybe you want track some baggage as it is traveling around the country or world and share that AirTag equipped luggage with a friend or colleague, or maybe you want to use an AirTag with a dog and share that with your entire family, or a pet sitter. There are endless reasons to potentially share an AirTag, and it’s easy to do once you learn how it works.
How to Share an AirTag
If you’d like to share an AirTag with someone else, here’s all you need to do:
- Open the “Find My” app on your iPhone
- Go to “Items” and then tap on the name of the AirTag (or item) that you want to share
- Now tap on “Share this AirTag / Add Person”
- Enter the persons contact information and tap add
- Optionally, add additional people to share the AirTag with if desired
- Tap on “Share” and then Continue
This will send an AirTag sharing invitation to the other person, which they must accept or add in Find My to be able to track the AirTag.
After the person accepts the invitation, the AirTag’d item will appear in their Find My app within the Items subsection. They can then use the Find My app at any time to locate the AirTag or item being tracked, just like it was there own.
In the example here, a dog tag AirTag was shared with someone, but you can obviously share any of the myriad things to track with AirTags this way.
You can always remove someone from a shared AirTag too if you decide to do that at any point.
Sharing AirTags offers a really easy way for multiple people to track items, pets, luggage, packages and parcels, and just about anything else you might be interested in tracking the location of and sharing that information with another person or people. You can share each AirTag individually as well, so even if you have a bunch of them (the 4-pack of AirTags is available at a great discount from Amazon), you don’t need to share all of them with someone, you can be selective.
