iOS 18.6 Update Released with Bug Fixes & Security Patches

iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 updates

Apple has released iOS 18.6 for iPhone, and iPadOS 18.6 for iPad. The updates include bug fixes and security enhancements, and address an issue with Photos app where the Memory Movies were not able to be shared in some situations. Apple has also released iPadOS 17.7.9 with security fixes for select iPad models.

Additionally, MacOS Sequoia 15.6, MacOS Ventura 13.7.7, macOS Sonoma 14.7.7, watchOS 11.6, tvOS 18.6, audioOS/homeOS, and visionOS updates are also available for other Apple devices.

How to Download & Install iOS 18.6 and/or iPadOS 18.6 Update

First, be sure you backup iPhoen or iPad to iCloud and/or a computer before starting a software update.

  1. Open the “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
  2. Go to “General” and then choose “Software Update”
  3. Select to “Update Now” to download and install iOS 18.6 / iPadOS 18.6 update when it shows as available

The iOS 18.6 update is around 1GB in size and will require a restart to complete installation of.

Optionally, users can choose to update an iPhone or iPad by connecting their device to a computer, or if they’re advanced, by using IPSW firmware.

    Just updated to iOS 18.6 – seems solid so far. Glad they fixed the Photos memory sharing bug, that one was annoying. Always a good idea to back up first, though. The update took around 10–15 minutes on my end.
