iOS 18.7 Update Available If You’re Not Ready For iOS 26 Yet
Apple has released iOS 18.7 for iPhone, along with iPadOS 18.7 for iPad. These new software updates are available alongside the major new release of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 for users who are not yet prepared or interested in installing those major new versions of system software for whatever reason.
The release notes for iOS 18.7 are brief and only mention security updates, so it’s assumed that no new features or other changes are included in the update, though there are few new Emoji icons in the equivalent MacOS 15.7 release so those are possibly here too.
How to Download & Install iOS 18.7 / iPadOS 18.7 Security Update
Don’t forget to backup iPhone or iPad to iCloud before starting the update:
- Open “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
- Go to “General”, and then select “Software Update”
- Choose to “Update Now” to download and install iOS 18.7 onto iPhone or iPadOS 18.7 on iPad
Be careful not to accidentally download and install iOS 26 which will also be available as a software update further below on the same screen.
You can also choose to update an iPhone or iPad to iOS 18.7 or iPadOS 18.7 by using a computer in Finder, or by using IPSW files to manually update the device.
