iOS 18.7 and iPadOS 18.7 updates are available now and recommended to install

Apple has released iOS 18.7 for iPhone, along with iPadOS 18.7 for iPad. These new software updates are available alongside the major new release of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 for users who are not yet prepared or interested in installing those major new versions of system software for whatever reason.

The release notes for iOS 18.7 are brief and only mention security updates, so it’s assumed that no new features or other changes are included in the update, though there are few new Emoji icons in the equivalent MacOS 15.7 release so those are possibly here too.

How to Download & Install iOS 18.7 / iPadOS 18.7 Security Update

Don’t forget to backup iPhone or iPad to iCloud before starting the update:

  1. Open “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
  2. Go to “General”, and then select “Software Update”
  3. Choose to “Update Now” to download and install iOS 18.7 onto iPhone or iPadOS 18.7 on iPad

Be careful not to accidentally download and install iOS 26 which will also be available as a software update further below on the same screen.

You can also choose to update an iPhone or iPad to iOS 18.7 or iPadOS 18.7 by using a computer in Finder, or by using IPSW files to manually update the device.

Hello OSX Daily. Your articles are the benchmark for me. I just upgraded to iOS26 and find that a lot of websites I had bookmarks for are now displaying Safari and DuckDuck ā€œcan’t find the serverā€. Chrome sort of works but I’m wondering if you can shed light on this perplexing issue as I’m sure I’m not alone. Same problem is on iPad Gen 10 after upgrading to iOS26.
Many thanks for the years of informative articles.

I’ve previously seen reports of people having DNS issues after installing iOS updates, so perhaps that is it? You could try setting manual DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 which is Cloudflare DNS and Google DNS.

I will keep an eye out on this issue, thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Looks like color rendering in 26 is munged up a bit. Camera seems unable to render the somewhat gatorade-ish- color of a White Negroni correctly. Image from a 15 ProMax jpg and raw shows none of the almost fluorescent yellow of the cocktail. Instead it is a neutral flat grayish. Adjusting settings seems to have no bearing. Also, bright blue sky comes out looking dull.

Strange – iPad mini 5th gen.
I received a notification that iPadOS26 AND iPadOS18.7 are BOTH available for download & installation.
Might let this rest for a while till things become clear :)
