Add Christmas Lights to Home Screen, Dock, & Desktop with Festivitas for iPhone & Mac

Festivitas is a fun app that brings some holiday spirit directly to your iPhone or Mac, by allowing you to add some animated holiday lights to your Home Screen or desktop. And if you’re using it on a Mac, you can even make it snow, or add Christmas lights to your Dock too. Deck the halls with bows of holly, and throw some holiday lights on your Mac and iPhone, to put yourself and anyone looking at your screen into the Christmas spirit.
Festivitas for Mac first isn’t new, it first came around last year, and it’s still available as a paid one-time purchase from the developer for 4 euros. Festivitas for iPhone however is new, it’s free with some basic core features, with additional features and widget options available in-app purchase.
For iPhone, Festivitas works by adding holiday lights to widgets that you place on your Home Screen. You can even use it as a photo frame widget and toss some holiday lights around a photo of your choice. You can also make it transparent so that you just have holiday lights blinking over your wallpaper. Once you download the app to your iPhone, add it like any other widget by pressing and holding on the Home Screen, tapping Edit in upper left corner, and tapping on “Add Widget”, where you will find Festivitas as an option.

For Mac, Festivitas allows you to add animated blinking lights to dangle from your Mac menu bar, or on the Dock, and the lights react to your mouse movement. And the latest version of Festivitas now offers a fun feature that allows you to let it snow on your Mac screen.

This is one of those fun customization apps that really can help put you in the holiday mood, it’s super easy to install and use, and it’s easy to customize too. It’s just cosmetic, so don’t expect any major revolutionary change to your workflow, unless being a bit more seasonal and excited about the holidays is a good motivator for you, anyway.
Note that if you use the Clear icon effect on iPhone, or the tinted effect, it will mute the colors of the Christmas lights, so you might want to temporarily switch to light or dark mode instead.
For Mac users, you can also add a blinking Christmas tree to your desktop, and if you want a simpler option with less finesse and fewer customizations than Festivitas, MacLampsX offers another free option to bring some holiday cheer to your desktop.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
