iOS 26.4.1 Update for iPhone & iPad Released with Bug Fixes

Apple has released iOS 26.4.1 for iPhone, along with ipadOS 26.4.1 for iPad, both to address unspecified bug fixes. Because no specific bug fixes are mentioned in the release notes or with the download, it’s unclear as of now what exactly has been addressed, but obviously Apple felt it important enough to issue a software update to fix whatever bug(s) have been patched.
This is the only fresh software update released today, meaning the most recent available versions of system software for other Apple devices are still MacOS Tahoe 26.4, watchOS 26.4, and tvOS 26.4.
How to Download & Install iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1 Update
Always backup iPhone or iPad to iCloud before starting software update:
- Open the “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
- Go to “General” and then go to “Software Update”
- Select “Update Now” to download and install the iOS 26.4.1 update for iPhone or iPadOS 26.4.1 update for iPad

Installing the update is pretty quick for most users, but does require the iPhone or iPad to restart.
While Settings > Software Update is the simplest way to update, you can also install the iOS 26.4.1 update through a computer, or with IPSW files manually.

OMG! So many bugs in iOS 26.4, the worst I have seen in many years. iOS email especially, but there is a lot of breakage since iOS 26.3.1(a). Much is super slow, much slower than iOS 26.3.1a. Mail can take like 20 seconds to get from a blank inbox to showing you your mail. Some stuff is broken unless you rotate the screen.
After a terrible release like that, I’m not sure if I should run to the next update as fast as I can, or just buy a used iPhone that still has iOS 18 & rebuild from there.
Just as one example, in iOS Mail open a message & try to file it in a folder. Can’t unless you rotate the phone to landscape mode. Otherwise the list of folders is not visible.
This iPhone 16 Pro is only about 14 months. So disappointing to have such a new phone feel as slow or even slower than a 2018 XR phone. Makes me regret spending the 1200 bucks on iPhone 16 pro. The old XR was still doing fine, and now may actually be faster than the new one with iOS 26.4
My iPhone updated to iOS 26.4.1 pretty quickly and none of the bugs are fixed that I know of. For example if I take a photo or screenshot, the Share button is hidden initially and then you tap on the screen a few times and it shows up. Another example is the text frame for many apps extends beyond the screen so you have to scroll horizontally on just about everything to read text, and that is the case for MANY third party apps that did not used to be that way in iOS 18. Another bug example is when switching back from dark mode to light mode either manually or automatically the buttons stay in dark mode but the rest of the interface goes to light so it’s very incongruent. Another bug example is swiping up from the lock screen doesn’t work approximately 15% of the time and I have to re-lock the screen and unlock it again to try again and then swipe up to unlock works. These are just a few I can think of that I encounter almost every day.
And don’t even get me started on MacOS Tahoe which is one big bug. I regret installing every day as it completely ruined the battery life of my two year old MacBook Air and now it barely lasts 2-3 hours on a charge, which is like Intel level bad of battery life. BOOOOO.
Apple is worth a trillion bucks they should not be releasing software this buggy. What happened? They have the resources to figure it out and fix it!
My computer now has an update to macOS 26.4.1 available. “This update provides bug fixes for your Mac” and will take 20 minutes to install once downloaded.
It’s about time they updated their software!!
I only have Apple because it’s easier to text my friends but I know for a fact that Samsung works much better.
I had to wait about a month to be able to delete trash in emails.
Really poor service!
