Make Custom Gradient Wallpapers on iPhone with Pride Luminance

The latest iOS versions for iPhone include a custom gradient wallpaper generator, allowing you to make some nice looking wallpapers of your choice, but many users are likely to miss the feature because it’s tucked into the LGBTQ Pride wallpaper collection on the iPhone.
Want a multicolor gradient blue wallpaper? A greyscale gradient? A gradient of greens? Gradients of the entire rainbow? The new Pride wallpaper allows for complete color customization, offering an easy way to have a unique wallpaper designed just for you, with whatever colors you’d like to see.
You must have iOS 26.5 or newer on your iPhone to have this gradient wallpaper generator feature available to you. Once your iPhone is up to date, making your custom wallpaper is easy:
How to Create a Custom Color Gradient Wallpaper on iPhone
- Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone
- Go to “Wallpaper”
- Tap on “Add New Wallpaper
- Scroll down into the identity wallpapers to find the “Pride” section and tap on that (you might need to tap “Get” to download them to your iPhone)
- Tap on the new Pride Luminance wallpaper options
- Tap on the color picker button to customize the gradient colors in the wallpaper
- Swipe through and select / deselect the colors you want to use as your custom gradient wallpaper
- Customize the remainder of the lock screen and wallpaper as you see fit, including widgets and clock size, then tap on “Add” to add the custom wallpaper to your iPhone and be able to use it

You can get as creative as you’d like, setting multiple colors to blend together:

By default, the new “Pride Luminance” wallpaper is the classic LGBTQ+ rainbow that everyone is undoubtedly familiar with, which also happens to be a bit like the rainbow six-color Apple logo that the company used for a long time, and there’s another more colorful default option for the more inclusive MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+, but you can completely customize the new Pride wallpaper to choose whatever colors you would like.

Note these Pride wallpapers are not available in all countries, and some countries and regions have government bans specifically against associated imagery, including Russia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Devices sold or linked to those regions typically do not have access to the LGBTQ wallpapers, including the new customizable Luminance wallpaper as discussed here.
There are rumors that iOS 27 will include custom wallpaper generation more broadly, and presumably that feature will be similar to this Pride Luminance wallpaper generator. In this way, this feature might be giving us a look at future wallpaper options on the iPhone that could debut down the road.

Cool, but…. is anyone else sick of the politics and group identity stuff? Why couldn’t Apple simply make a wallpaper creator that is not attached to some identity group? Why do some identity groups get acknowledged and others not? Who made any of these decisions at Apple and how did they get approved?
Good grief, I like the wallpaper but hate the endless politics!
