Maps Icon in iOS 6 Has Directions Driving Off a Bridge [Humor]

iOS 6 includes an impressive Apple-baked version of the Maps application, but the new Maps icon shows some less than impressive directions. Anyone familiar with Cupertino, California and 1 Infinite Loop should immediately identify the problem here: the Maps icon is directing traffic to fly right off the De Anza blvd overpass and into the median of I-280. Oops.
This is obviously a joke as there are legitimate ways to take a left turn onto 280 from northbound De Anza, but that wouldn’t be as amusing to show.
This picture has been making the rounds and has been sent to us 60000 times so figured we’d post it. If anyone knows the original source of the image let us know and we’ll link it up.
I think I’m going to try this….. I’ll let you know how it goes.

And when the new campus gets finalized, the icon will change? hehe

this new Apple Maps is only good in selected countries and its useless in Hong Kong where i live…
It’s a joke because it’s Apple.
If it were a Google icon it would be considered an error of the highest magnitude.
Could this be a hint that Apple is secretly working on a flying car?
Yes it’s called the iHover, connect your iPad via Wi-Fi to maneuver the Vehicle, and you’r ready to go.

umm, nope.
If you look closely, you can see on the Google Maps icon that that bridge is connected to the crossing road below by sideway feeders. So nothing wrong with Apple’s icon…
I think I’ve seen this about 2000 times by now.

I actually like Google Maps for iOS, I’m hoping Google releases a native Maps app for iPhone.
