Download 6 Classic Novels as Audiobooks Free from Apple
Want to read some classic literature? Or rather, would you like to hear some classic literature read to you? Apple has released a free set of audiobooks for classic novels, including Pride and Prejudice, The Time Machine, Frankenstein, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Secret Garden, and Winnie the Pooh.
Each of the audiobooks is narrated by a celebrity, and is available for free as a download from the Apple Books app for iPhone or iPad, or the iTunes app on Mac or Windows. If you choose to download the audiobooks to a mobile device like an iPhone or iPad, then they could make for some great road trip listening as you venture out for the holidays or a weekend adventure.
You can access all of the books at this iTunes link here, or you can access the individual audiobooks at the links below:
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and narrated by Kate Beckinsale
- The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, and narrated by Tituss Burgess
- The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and narrated by Karen Gillian
- The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, and narrated by Kelsey Grammer
- Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and narrated by Aaron Mahnke
- Winnie the Pooh, narrated by the Disney Book Group
Each audiobook can be downloaded for free and then listened to at anytime on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Windows PC.
It’s not entirely clear if the audiobooks will be permanently free or if it’s a temporary offer, and it’s also unclear if the audiobooks are region restricted or only available in the USA, but if you have any interest in enjoying any of the aforementioned books, check them out. Enjoy them around your residence, during a commute, on a road trip, or at any other time.
If this collection is whetting your appetite for audiobooks, there’s neat free app on the App Store called AudioBooks which gives access to thousands of other audiobooks (some of better quality than others) too. And of course you can also sign up for Audible from Amazon to gain access to tons of other audiobooks as well.
Thanks to MacRumors for the cool find!
No Winnie the Pooh for Australia :-(
Not available in South Africa 😢
Thanks a lot bro. Just got my free audio books. Thanks again for the heads up :)
I was able to download in Canada. Weird why some countries are blocked.
Because licensing happens on a country by country basis; and if history is any guide, everyone will get access eventually. Even jerks named Marcel.
Hey Paul,
Thanks for great tips, you gave us, but all those stories

why shell I spend a time for stories, which I know.
I have a lot of to do in X-mass time. Wishing you and

Friendly regards from 🇦🇹

Best, Michael.
Seems to be available in UK. Thanks.
Not available in the Polish store
Available here in Australia !! :)
…as well as in UK…
thanks for sharing audiobooks.
Since we don’t have any Apple services in Iraq, we set the region on our Apple devices to America, Available and downloading. Cheers!
Thank you apple, for ******* region lock, f*** you very much.
Thanks, going to listen to Time Machine as that is the best voice acted from what I’ve heard of the clips.
I wanted to hear Frankenstein but the voice acting is strange, with odd pauses and pronunciations, like the person reading the book is not a particularly great reader. Not everyone has to be a great voice actor or at reading aloud, so why have someone who isn’t great read an audiobook?
I’m in the USA and they are all available on iTunes and Books. Maybe for those above not in US they have other books available in their countries.
Not available in the Netherlands as well.
Not available in Sweden.
