The iPhone has an interesting feature that will temporarily prevent the iPhone battery from charging if the iPhone temperature is not at an appropriate level to safely charge. When this happens, you will see a notification on the iPhone screen stating “Charging on Hold – Charging will resume when iPhone returns to normal temperature.” Most users who see this alert on their iPhone will find it because their iPhone is too hot, often when the iPhone is charging in a hot car on a sunny day and even immediately prior or after the temperature warning appears on screen, but you can also encounter the alert when the iPhone is too cold as well, like in below-freezing temperatures at a ski resort, or if you kept your iPhone in a freezer for an extended duration.

As you can surmise from the notification, the iPhone is not charging the battery when this alert is present on the screen. Let’s run through some tips to fix this issue and get your iPhone charging again.

If you already have a MacOS Sonoma virtual machine setup in UTM, Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBuddy, or otherwise, you may be interested in upgrading the MacOS Sonoma VM to a MacOS Sequoia Beta VM.

One simple way to accomplish this, one might think, is to use a developer Apple ID within your Virtual Machine, and install directly from there. However, using an Apple ID within a MacOS virtual machine is not supported, and therefore MacOS VM’s are typically used in such a way that no Apple ID is associated with them or used within them, so in those situations you will need to rely on another method. While one option is to download a MacOS Sequoia installer and then copy it to the VM, another approach is available that relies on defaults commands to change the software update catalog on the virtualized Mac. This will allow the macOS Sequoia beta to appear as an available upgrade, even if no developer Apple ID is associated with the virtual machine.

Some Mac users may need to install Java on their Apple Silicon equipped Mac – whether it’s an M1, M2, M3, or other M-series ARM chip – allowing them to run Java-based applications and software on their computers. The powerful new M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air series come equipped from the Apple factory with some pretty nice looking wallpapers, but that doesn’t mean you have to buy a new iPad just to enjoy the appearance on your current devices.

The M2 iPad Air wallpapers feature bright shiny colorful abstractions based upon the color the devices that vaguely spell out ‘AIR’, while the M4 iPad Pro wallpapers are dark black yet still feature colorful abstracts that spell out “PRO” in a similarly discrete fashion.
