Users active in the system software beta testing programs will find that Apple has released the third beta versions of iOS 16.2 for iPhone, MacOS Ventura 13.1 for Mac, and iPadOS 16.2 for iPad.
Some Mac users feel that macOS Ventura is much slower than macOS Monterey or Big Sur, offering worse performance in general, and when performing the same tasks on their Mac.
It’s not unusual for users to feel that their computer is slower after a major MacOS update, and Ventura is no exception. If you feel like your Mac is notably slower or more sluggish, perhaps with slow app performance, more beach balling, or other unusually slow behavior when trying to use your computer, read on.
The Home app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac is a useful hub for managing your Homekit accessories, smart speakers, Homepods, and other smart devices. One nice customization to add to the Home app is to rename your Home setup from “My Home” to something more specific, perhaps your street name or something more easily identifiable, and that customization becomes particularly useful if you share Home access with other people, other households, or other houses.
For example, maybe your partner, friend, or family, has given you access to their Home app and all the abilities to control accessories and automations, but if you all have your Home labeled as “My Home” that can be confusing when you go to select particular home setups.
Let’s rename “My Home” in Home app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, it’s quite easy.
Some iPhone users have noticed that display brightness increases automatically when watching Instagram videos or Instagram reels, stories, and some YouTube videos.
Scheduling a Mac to boot, sleep, and shutdown, have been longstanding features in the Energy preference panel on Mac OS since the beginning of the operating system, so if you updated to macOS Ventura and now you’re wondering where those settings went, you aren’t alone. You can still schedule a Mac to turn on and shutdown on a schedule, but how it’s accomplished is different from before.

Apple has released macOS Ventura 13.0.1 as the first bug fix update for macOS Ventura.
The bug fixes are not specified but may address some of the difficulties experienced by some Ventura users, including wi-fi issues and Error 100093 when using virtual volumes.
Apple has released iOS 16.1.1 for iPhone, and iPadOS 16.1.1 for iPad.
The updates include unspecified bug fixes and security updates, and are therefore recommended for all users who are running prior versions of iOS/iPadOS 16 on their devices.
The second beta versions of iOS 16.2 for iPhone, iPadOS 16.2 for iPad, and macOS Ventura 13.1 for Mac have been released to users participating in the beta testing programs.
Typically the developer beta is available first and soon followed by the same build being released to public beta testers.
Some users are reporting wi-fi connection issues and other internet connectivity problems after updating to MacOS Ventura 13. The problems can range from slow wi-fi connections or reconnections, wi-fi disconnecting randomly, or wi-fi not working at all, or internet connectivity not working after updating a Mac to macOS Ventura. Network connectivity issues seem to pop up for some users randomly after installing just about any macOS update, and Ventura is no exception.
We’ll walk through troubleshooting wi-fi connection problems in MacOS Ventura so you’ll be back online in no time.
Some iPhone users may discover the side mute/silent switch on their device has randomly stopped working. Given that the mute switch is the only physical switch on the iPhone, and it’s sole job is to put the iPhone into silent mute mode and unmute, it’s pretty inconvenient if this buttons tops working as expected.
If you’re experiencing problems with the Mute switch not working on iPhone, try the steps below to get it working again, or use the workarounds offered to find another solution to continue to be able to mute and unmute your iPhone without a functioning silent switch.
Some Mac users may notice that a process called “ApplicationsStorageExtension” is running in the background, using a large amount of CPU and memory resources.
Typically this process is seen when a computer feels sluggish and a user ventures into Activity Monitor to locate errant processes or whatever is consuming system resources.
Many iPad users have noticed their iPad rings for incoming phone calls on their iPhone. If you do not have an interest in getting phone calls on your iPad, you can stop the iPad from receiving inbound calls that come in to your iPhone, which will prevent the iPad from ringing.
If you’ve been wondering “why does my iPad ring?” you’re certainly not alone, so let’s get to work in stopping this from happening.

Some Mac users running macOS Ventura have noticed a series of “operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred” error messages when attempting to drag and drop files in the Finder from macOS Ventura to a virtual volume, like what’s often used on a Micro:bit, Raspberry Pi Pico, AdaFruit, CircuitPython / Pyboard, DAPLink, or other RP2040-based boards, and even some USB flash drives.
The full error message when attempting to drag and drop UF2 or hex files in the Finder to the target volume is usually “The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 100093).” with the same 100093 error code.
A workaround is available for Raspberry Pi Pico users however, and it relies on using the command line cp command to copy files manually through Terminal.
Apple has included a visible ‘Search’ button on the Home Screen of modern versions of iOS 16 and newer, that when tapped will bring up the devices search function.
You can also still pull down on the Home Screen to activate the Search feature on iPhone though, so if you find the search button to be redundant, you may appreciate removing the Search button from the Home Screen of iPhone (or iPad).
Some iPad Magic Keyboard users have discovered that the Magic Keyboard randomly stops working, or the keyboard keys will work while the Magic Keyboard trackpad stops working.
Magic Trackpad issues can happen at random, or sometimes after installing software updates to the iPad Pro or iPad Air the Magic Trackpad stops working, but fortunately troubleshooting these issues are pretty straight forward, and soon you’ll have your Magic Keyboard and trackpad working again on the iPad as expected.
