The first untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2 has been released as Redsn0w 0.9.6rc13. This jailbreak eliminates the need for the prior tethered redsn0w hack, and works on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 GSM, iPod touch 3rd & 4th gen, and iPad 1. Those who rely on the ultrasn0w carrier unlock should avoid redsn0w as usual.

Mac and Windows versions are available:

Update: The Dev Team made a minor adjustment versioned as Redsn0w 0.9.6rc13b temporarily making it a tethered jailbreak for iPhone 4 while they resolve a bug. Other iOS devices are not affected by this change and remain untethered.

Update 2: Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 fixes the iPhone 4 untether problem, it can be ran directly over rc13 and it will untether that jailbreak. It is recommended for iPhone 4 users.

You can follow our tutorial to jailbreak iPhone iOS 4.3.2 with redsn0w if you’d like a walkthrough.

If you’re having problems updating to iOS 4.3.2 using Cydia and sauriks’ server, you may have recently used the Error 3194 fix for iTunes, which means you just need to remove gs.apple.com from your hosts file.

Note: this version of redsn0w will not jailbreak iPad 2 or iPhone 4 CDMA.

    • Parakeet says:

if you aren’t jailbroken already you won’t lose anything, if you are jailbroken you will lose your jailbreak because you have to restore to 4.3.2 first

PROBLEM: Hey guys, I have a problem –

My iPhone was on iOs 4.3.2 then I tried to Jailbreak it with redsnow…

I did all the steps but when my iPhone tries to restart after the jailbreak it freezes and the apple logo is shown always!!

    What’s wrong?

    • Jay says:

i had this same problem. just go into redsn0w and go to “boot tethered now” follow the on screen instructions and it should boot.

Same problem here, update to 4.3.2, then jailbreak w/ redsn0w, had frozen apple logo when install cydia, then I tried redsn0w “boot tethered” then, screen show pineapple w/ small running circle. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I could not access Iphone emergency call, or main screen. It has been either frozen apple or pineapple or itune picture w/ cord.

Hi guys, for me too the link is not working for downloading redsn0w.

Last time with 4.3.1 redsn0w made my iPhone freeze permanently at the apple logo while rebooting. Is that rectified in this release ? any idea ?

  7. Matt says:

    Links are fixed.

The dev team adjusted the iPhone 4 jailbreak to be tethered while they work on a bug fix. If you have an iPhone 4, you might want to wait for the untether fix.

  8. Ash says:

Just done the Jailbreak Cydia is white. Phone is updated and using the lastest Cydia. Any ideas people?

    Thanks Ash

  9. Chance says:

So what is the hold up on the iPad 2?

    • Parakeet says:

The iPad 2 hardware is different enough from the rest of the iOS lineup that it’s going to require it’s own unique jailbreak. Finding exploits for it is made more difficult because not that many people can get iPad 2 right now and some of the hackers are from other countries where it’s basically impossible to get one without paying a fortune.

Give it some time, it will come.

Hi, I am already on 4.3.2 Tethered jailbreak with Redsnow. Do I need to restore to the original 4.3.2 first before jailbreaking Untethered with Redsnow? When I tried to restore to the original 4.3.2, I get an iTunes error 3194 on Windows or on my mac “this device is not eligible…” thank’s!
