The Song holiday commercial from Apple

Apple has released their annual holiday commercial, titled “The Song”. The advertisement plays out like a short film, following a girl who discovers an old record of her grandmother singing, and then proceeds to use a Mac and iPad to create and share a duet with herself and her grandmothers old recording.

The commercial is airing now and can be seen on network and cable TV, or watched as an embedded video below on YouTube:

Much like last years “Misunderstood” holiday ad, the commercial aims to tug on emotional strings in a creative way while also showing off the possibilities that Apple hardware brings.

“The Song” also has a companion website for the commercial, which seems to require Safari to view the actual video, and a featured section of the App Store which covers the music creation apps used in the TV advertisement.

If you haven’t seen “The Song” commercial yet, you should take a few moments to watch it, it’s not your average advertisement.

Richard, sorry to burst your bubble but Apple isn’t a Christian company. they’re simply being inclusive to their customers, whatever faith or no faith they follow.

If you don’t like it, don’t support them. I’m not a religious person but I’m also not offended by someone who wished me a heartfelt Merry Christmas. I wish them one in return because I appreciate the consideration and reciprocate honestly that I hope they do the same.

It’s an ‘ok’ ad as far ads go. I didn’t shed a tear, in fact, I was a little unimpressed with the final graphic of the ad “happy holidays”? Are you kidding me Apple ! Really???

How crass, how devoid of anything CHRISTMAS can this company get?

This is one of the best commercial I’ve seen all yr. It helps one remember that special person and it also shows that one doesn’t need a fancy gift to show his or her love towards that person. Her grandmother’s face at the end is priceless 😢

Lord Have Mercy – watching it in the background while working and next thing I know I’m bawling. Go hug your family and call your moms ’cause this one is going straight to your heart. ;-)

I just got tears reading the man’s letter. I must really be a sap. I’m a grandmother who knows our granddaughter will never have memories like this of us. I became a grandmother when I was 35 and I rarely get to see my grandkids. A beautiful commercial and a bittersweet one as well.

I’m a 43-year-old man watching the Seahawks and 49ers game and this commercial came on during the 2nd half. Why am I sniffling & tearing up during a football game? Thanks, Apple!
