OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 Beta 1 Released for Testing
Apple has released the first beta build of OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 to Mac developers and Public Beta users. The beta build arrives as 14F6a and is compatible with any Mac that is able to run OS X Yosemite.
OS X 10.10.5 beta 1 is available to download now from the Mac Developer Center for registered developers to access the build, and the Software Update mechanism for Public Beta users. It’s unclear what is contained within OS X 10.10.5 beta, but typically a point release includes bug fixes, security improvements, and minor enhancements, and does not include any major new features.
Yosemite 10.10.5 beta 1 is part of the public beta program, but the small update to Yosemite is completely separate from the OS X El Capitan 10.11 public beta 1 release, which is accessible to any Mac user choosing to participate in the public beta program from Apple.
The latest stable build of OS X remains OS X Yosemite 10.10.4. Stable builds are recommended for the vast majority of users, as beta releases are often less reliable.
Separately, iOS 8.4.1 beta 1 was also released today for developers to test on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models.
