Download iOS 13 GM Now for iPhone & iPod touch
Apple has released the GM version of iOS 13 to users participating in the developer beta testing program.
GM stands for Golden Master and typically represents the final version of software that gets released to the general public, thus indicating that iOS 13 GM will likely match the final version released next week.
iOS 13 GM seed carries build 17A577, and remains separate release from the ongoing concomitant beta testing of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1, which also received new beta versions today.
Users who are interested in installing iOS 13 GM will need to use the IPSW file compatible with their particular iPhone model and be using the latest version of MacOS Catalina or Xcode 11 GM.
IPSW files for iOS 13 GM are available to download now from Apple Developer center website, thus only registered developers currently have access to the iOS 13 GM release.
For those hoping for an OTA update, currently the iOS 13 GM download is not available through Software Update via the Settings app, but obviously will appear so for all users when it is released to the general public next week.
Any iPhone or iPod touch that supports and is compatible with iOS 13 will be able to run iOS 13 GM. The specific devices that support iOS 13 include iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone XS Max, iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPod touch 7th generation.
If you are already beta testing iOS 13 as a public beta user or a developer beta user, you’re likely already on the latest beta versions of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 build (recall that iOS and iPadOS are now separate system software versions again), and thus would basically need to downgrade to iOS 13 GM to install it onto an iPhone.
iOS 13 includes many new features including a Dark Mode theme, revisions to core apps like photos, Reminders, and Notes, performance improvements, improved Files app with support for SMB shares, support for external storage devices, new Emoji icons, new Animoji and Memoji features, new wallpapers, and much more.
The iOS 13 release date is set for September 19 for the general public who are not currently participating in either the public or developer beta programs. That happens to be the day before the all new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max are set to be released as well.
Note that iOS 13 GM does not apply to iPad, and iPadOS 13 GM is not yet available. It is widely assumed that iPadOS 13 GM will actually be versioned as iPadOS 13.1, which matches the same versions that are currently undergoing beta testing.
