MacOS Monterey Beta 2 Released to Download
Apple has released macOS Monterey beta 2 for users enrolled in the developer beta testing program for Mac system software. The public beta version is not yet available.
macOS Monterey beta includes various new features that are being tested for the next major version of Mac system software, including bringing a grid view and screen sharing to Face Time, the new Universal Control feature which lets you use a single mouse and keyboard across a Mac and iPad (running iPadOS 15), changes to Safari with a new tabs interface and tab grouping feature, improvements and additions to Messages, a Focus feature for Do Not Disturb mode, the inclusion of the Shortcuts app on Mac, a Quick Notes feature for taking notes within apps, the ability to select text from photos and images using Live Text, Low Power Mode for Mac laptops, using a Mac as an AirPlay destination, changes to Maps, and more.
Anyone enrolled in the MacOS Developer Beta program can install the dev beta of MacOS Monterey.
How to Download MacOS Monterey Developer Beta 2
To have access to the dev beta, you must be enrolled in the developer beta program for macOS. Be sure to back up the Mac with Time Machine.
- Go to Apple menu and choose System Preferences
- Choose ‘Software Update’ to find macOS Monterey beta 2 available to download
Installing the beta update will require a reboot.
MacOS Monterey System Requirements
To be able to install and run macOS Monterey, the Mac must have an internet connection, with at least 20GB of storage available to download and complete the installation.
Hardware wise, supported Macs include iMac 2015 and later, Mac Pro late 2013 and later, iMac Pro 2017 and later, Mac mini late 2015 and later, MacBook 2016 and later, MacBook Air 2015 and later, and MacBook Pro 2015 and later.

Anyone enrolled in the developer beta program can download and install macOS Monterey dev beta onto their compatible Mac. For most users interested in the beta program, waiting for the public beta to be available soon is a better option.
The final version of macOS Monterey will be available in the fall.
Separately, iOS 15 beta 2, iPadOS 15 beta 2, watchOS 8 beta 2, and tvOS 15 beta 2 are also available to download for users enrolled in those beta programs.
