MacOS Ventura Compatible Mac List

MacOS Ventura supported Macs

Wondering if your Mac can support running MacOS Ventura? If you’re interested in checking out the next generation MacOS 13 version, you’ll certainly want to check the compatible Macs list.

You’ll find the list of compatible Macs with macOS Ventura (MacOS 13) is much more strict than prior Macintosh operating system versions, so if you’re thinking of running the betas or even the final version when it’s available this fall, you’ll want to check to see if your hardware is covered in the first place.

MacOS Ventura Supported Mac List

The list of Macs supported by MacOS Ventura is quite a bit more restrictive, cutting off support for any Mac that is past 5 years old.

  • iMac (2017 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2017 and later)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • MacBook (2017 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)
  • iMac Pro
  • Mac mini (2018 and later)

As you can see, any Mac that was released before 2017 is not covered, so they’ll be stuck on either Monterey, Big Sur, or an earlier system software version.

This hardware list comes directly from the Apple website.

It’s not entirely clear why the system requirements are much more strict on the Mac, given that macOS Ventura does not have any significant new features that appear to require extensive hardware use to support, but perhaps in time there will be more clarity on this matter.

Apple has announced that macOS Ventura will be available in the fall, and there are currently beta versions available for those in the beta testing programs for MacOS.

    Jan,
The OCLP crew are working on a patch for older Macs as we speak! they do update their progress on twitter.
as for me and the 2012 Macs I use, Catalina does the same thing, but am running Monterey on the mini.
what  is going is introducing this OS as new, but the process will install what is need on top of Monterey instead of a 13GB install.
a shame  can’t develop for older Macs though.

The REAL question is: which previous models can be HACKED to run Ventura?

I’m running Catalina with ease on a thirteen-year-old MacPro (4,1). You need a Metal video card, updated firmware, and an easily-installed patch kit.
