iOS 16.6 & iPadOS 16.6 Update Released to Download
Apple has released iOS 16.6 for iPhone and iPadOS 16.6 for iPad, to all users who are running the iOS/iPadOS 16 operating systems.
iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 are said to include important bug fixes and security fixes for iPhone and iPad, making them recommended to install for eligible users. No new features are included.
Separately, updates are also available for MacOS Ventura 13.5, tvOS 16.6, watchOS 9.6, along with small point release updates for macOS Big Sur and Monterey, and older iPhone and iPad models.
How to Download & Install iOS 16.6 / iPadOS 16.6
Be sure to backup iPhone or iPad to iCloud, Finder, and/or a PC before beginning any software update.
- Open the “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
- Go to “General”
- Go to “Software Update”
- Select to “Download and Install” for iOS 16.6 / iPadOS 16.6
Updating to iOS 16.6 or iPadOS 16.6 will require the iPhone or iPad to restart. The update itself is not too large, but as is typical with iOS/iPadOS updates, they require a significant amount of free storage space available to complete the update, and iCloud does not always manage to free up storage well, particularly with iCloud Photos enabled on devices with less overall storage capacity.
iPhone and iPad users who are previously installed iOS 17 beta on their devices will not find the update available to them, unless they first downgraded from iOS 17 beta.
If you have an older iPhone or iPad running iOS 15, instead you will find iOS 15.7.8 and iPadOS 15.7.8 available to update with the same security fixes.
Users can also choose to install the updates through a computer and USB cable.

Much too complicated – and the worst of it is that my iPhone no longer rings – what if Ed McMan calls me! And the documentation is just so intensive.
Not a happy Appleverse user.
If your iPhone is no longer ringing, try the following:
– make sure the mute switch is not activated
– make sure Do Not Disturb / Focus is disabled
Those are the most common reasons
