Beta 2 of iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, MacOS Sonoma 14.1 Released for Testing
Apple has issued the second beta versions of MacOS Sonoma 14.1, iOS 17.1, and iPadoS 17.1, for users who are participating in those beta testing programs. The beta 2 builds are available first for edevelopers, and are soon followed by public betas.
iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, and MacOS Sonoma 14.1 will likely include some new features that were announced with the major releases, but didn’t make the cut for the first .0 release builds.
How to Download iOS 17.1 Beta 2 & iPadOS 17.1 Beta 2
If you’re in the beta programs for iOS and iPadOS, here’s how you get beta 2 of 17.1:
- Open the “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
- Choose “General”
- Select “Software Update”
- Choose to download and install iOS 17.1 Beta 2 / iPadOS 17.1 Beta 2
Note that if you recently chose to remove the iOS/iPadOS 17 beta updates from your iPhone or iPad by opting out of the beta program then you will not find these beta updates available on your device.
How to Download MacOS Sonoma 14.1 Beta 2 Update
If you’re in the Sonoma beta program, beta 2 of 14.1 is available by doing the following:
- Go to the Apple menu and choose System Settings
- Go to “General”
- Select “Software Update”
- Click to “Update Now” for MacOS Sonoma 14.1 Beta 2
The Mac will restart to finish installation.
If you recently stopped MacOS Sonoma beta updates from appearing by opting out of the beta program, then you will not see these updates available.
Apple goes through several beta versions before issuing a final version to the general public, so it’s reasonable to expect the final versions of iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, and MacOS Sonoma 14.1 sometime later this month, or even the next month.
